Sounds stunning for meagre bucks.
The only sadness is that I got NI Studio Strings Pro 2 not long ago.
With the Spitfire special offer, minus the vat which I can claim back, it's £128 quid.
Have to dig into my savings I think.

Have you seen what has been said on Vi-Control forums ? It's been discussed a lot actually : some say it's Spitfire worst failure ever, some seem happy with it.
Judging from the demos, I must say I'm not convinced at all. Granted, this is not a classical string library, this one is more pop oriented. But I simply think it sounds fake on some official demos, and I really dislike the sound on the upper register of the violins.

Upper register violins almost ways the hardest bit to get right
- followed by violas that come through the mix.
Will take a look at Vi-Control. Never been there before.

There is this thread :
https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... one.74520/
and this one :
https://vi-control.net/community/thread ... ons.74521/
And I believe I've read another one but can't find it back.
You'll find a lot of opinions about this library, it's being discussed to death at the moment.

I read VI-Control but I also take them with a pinch of salt. There are some extreme views like, I won't use a single sound from this library! I deleted it off my drive! A little too much hyperbole for my tastes. For the money and quality I can't see how you wouldn't use a single sound, whilst others are very happy? Utter nonsense. There are some on there with an agenda. Some criticism is valid, but I prefer a little less hyperbole.kevvvvv wrote:Will take a look at Vi-Control. Never been there before.

Cheers DJErmac
I take onboard the comments, especially how you can't switch artics midphrase without it sounding a bit wrong, or the screechy high end vlns. But all string sets are bit like that.
The full pro version doesn't interest me. Too pricey for just room emulation.
But the range of artics in the budget set does sound good, offering lots of choice.
And it falls in my budget range.
Thanks for the heads-up

The more I compare this library to the alternatives, the more I think I'm gonna buy it... It's pristine clean and it's very cheap. It's not perfect, but no string library is.

Just bought.
The price seems right for what you get, which is more than average, and backed by a top pedigree.
I can see a lot of usefulness in this, especially as I'm more interested in small orchestras, than 80+ piece symphonic jobs.
Now to try out a bit of vivaldi and put it through its paces

Bought also. The new walkthrough videos show a really awesome product for the price. These are the cleanest strings samples I've heard so far. I'm not strictly talking about room noises or parasites, but also general sound harshness. At first I thought they might lack character but after comparing the sound of every other library I know in the same price range, I found them all horribly dirty sounding or less defined in comparison. I'm downloading the library now... ^^

Hhmm... yes, I don't think it's really designed for that kind of string music.kevvvvv wrote: Now to try out a bit of vivaldi and put it through its paces

Anyone rocking this, it seems relatively cheap at £199 - does the price go up or down?
Do you get solo as well as ensemble patches?
I'm no expert to say the least but this would seem a good price/quality balance...

"how you can't switch artics midphrase without it sounding a bit wrong, or the screechy high end vlns. But all string sets are bit like that."
Simply not true. I use things designed to crossfade seamlessly, including in one thing from a regular artic to half trem to sul pont, or over-the-bridge to natural harmonics in both directions (or really anything I could insert in the dimension, except pizz to not or vice versa mid-note would tend to be wambly).
It's not a limitation of the medium but of the product.
My price for VSL Synchron Strings is 330 euro, giving me 410 euro off the list price for having half of the bundle. The difference in these two business models is enormous. Yeah, there's the free LABS, if it works; not a big fan of the vendor.
This is 'kind of' fat for 200 euro but it does not appear to be especially competitive if that stuff is true..
