Birthday gift- what to ask for?

OK, so I'm in a rut. My fiance wants to get me something for my B-day. I have no idea what to ask for. Everything I want is online, and she wants to get me something from a store for me to "unwrap." For Christmas, she gave me $80 for Tracktion but doesn't want to do that again.

So her and her mom are going shopping tomorrow, and don't know what to get me. Any ideas? Anything I can ask for that can be gotten from a store? Something that may help me with music, acoustics, etc. We have one or two audio stores around, but with limited production tools. They may go in together on the price of something, but probably won't spend more than $120, since money is scarce with the wedding and all.

I'm open to suggestions. Let me know and I'll check back. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Cheers!

how do you unwrap a Kitten?

There's plenty of stuff you can get in the store..always good to have extra cords..I burn through those..if you have a guitar collection, get those wall hangers so you can get em off the ground so kids don't knock em over, stuff like that..

Or you can ask her to get you $120 worth of Ruhypnol..those come in blister packs so you have something to 'open' :D

Long time ago, I got a bass guitar from a girlfriend as a birthday gift ($150). She didn't know anything about instruments and so got me an ultra crappy bass. So I went to the store and traded it for an used Yamaha (paid extra $150).

She later became a bassist. :D

If there is a guitarcenter or software stocked music store, then my suggestion would be ask for a boxed copy of something you want.. a rompler or sample library.. I know the non-chain music stores here even carry a bit of the software and sample libraries so you can probably find something you like in the music stores.. phone around and see if they stock stuff you like.. im betting you'll find one store that has SOMETHING in your budget that you like..

or maybe a set of headphones ...or a couple books on mixing and/or sound engineering and production.. maybe some music or something... that can help you make music.. inspiration and such.. :D

if they want to get you something non-musical.. watches, portable TVs, and cd towers (you never can have too many) are cool.. at least to me.. :D

so anyways.. whens the bday? :P

Thanks for the suggestions.

She's allergic to cats, so the kitten is out. :D

The local store has only a copy of Gigastudio 32 for around $100, which is something I've always wanted, but wondered about the GSIF thingy. It's not much of a software store, rather a guitar store(already have one, and I'm not very good) and other rock instruments.

There is a Phonic multi-effects processor there for under $130. Would this be worth it? You can usually talk these guys down.

I have a ton of books. My favorite store is Barnes and Nobles, and she knows that any book I want, I usually get, and already have.

Any more ideas? I also have looked through the newest Musician's Friend catalog for their 21st anniversary sale, and found a ton of stuff, but I don't know if she would get anything through that.

Keep em coming! Oh, and the B-day is on Saturday the 31st. I'll be 25(ah, where did my life go? )

Cheers!

I saw sickles suggestion for some roofies which are good, but I think some yak and a trick would be much nicer. Chalk it up! 8)

and Sampletank 2 FREE..

..it even comes with an intrusive, online registration form that IK spent lots of time and money on so its GOT to be good.. :P

outside of that.. hmmm its nonmusical but maybe something for the home? kind of boring but perhaps something along the lines of a sheet set and some high thread-count pillow cases..

or a computer part such as more memory for the computer.. faster cpu.. or a newer videocard.. an optical mouse with the scrolly wheel.. especially if you have an older system..

outside of that that.. hmm a midi knobbox like a UC-16 is fun.. if they still sell them..

hmm, how about a kick drum that might be like a giant smooth marshmallow that rapidly expands and contracts?

I think the tough part is wrapping them in the first place, if you can manage that, I think they unwrap themselves...
