I am considering pushing the button on a BMD but Gordon Reid's review in this months Sound on Sound highlights a problem. Apparently if notes overlap or "touch" they are not triggered meaning it won't work with sequencers and arps unless the note length is shortened.
Anyone aware of this problem / know if a firmware fix has been implemented or is likely?

Not likely. It would mean the legato / portamento feature gets disabled. If you don't want legato on a mono synth, then notes should not overlap. This is true for every synth. Problem is with the arp / sequencer, not with the synth imho.
Touching notes are a corner-case, there's no telling in what order midi events arrive that have the same timestamp.
It's remarkable that Gordon doesn't mention legato in his 2016 review of the reissued original. Since the BMD review is not available yet for everyone to read, could you quote what he says about it? Just out of interest...

There is a multi-trigger mode, but it had a rather odd implementation in firmware 1.0.5 and earlier in that key release always retriggered the envelopes regardless of the note priority settings. Apparently this was changed in firmware 1.0.6 (but I can't verify this as I no longer have one of these). There's a long discussion here:

OK. I am confused. I want to be able to sequence a BMD from an Arturia Beatstep Pro and/or a Keystep. There are discussions and videos on line which show people doing this so I am unsure what Gordon's warning is. Am a safe to purchase a BMD to use with my Beatstep and Keystep? Can anyone shed light?

I don't know if I've used the Keystep sequencer or not, but I have definitely used the Keystep's arpeggiator with my Boog many times and with fast arpeggiations and have never had a problem with it. I have an early Boog with the original firmware (1 octave bends, before the 7 or 8 note bends a lot of people have had a problem with). I wouldn't see why the sequencer would be any different.
