ah, I see. you have soundclick; I don't know how to make direct links to their mp3s.

Anyway, nice sounds here. I especially like the strange (flanged?) percussion in this track. I kept expecting a bassline to come in though.. That said the track works without a bassline somehow.

Not a high-flyer of a tune, but a very relaxing listen and like Floyd said, this could have easily gotten a great bass, but it's not really missed either.

i debated adding a bass line. It usually happens after the song is sketched out and I held off and liked it without, so just kept going.

but given the idea of a 'great bass', i may have to fool with it this weekend. I've been wanting to start getting into countermelodies, that wind around each other. I'm so impressed by people who can do that. This might be a good opportunity to give that a try

One nice technique for counter-melodies I like to use is: write one melody, break it into 'chunks' and distribute the chunks between bass, and maybe two melodic instruments. Fill in the blanks on each instrument with something simple. This often sounds much more complex than it really is

guess i spent too much time with rhythm sections
