Hello all.
I have been using Scarbee's Rickenbacker bass library for a while, but I am looking for another library or instrument for a non-picked bass. Looking at the new options, the modeled MODO Bass instrument from IK media and the classic and modern bass from Ilya Efimov.

The former has a demo version that I've tried--there seem to be some tuning issues for repeated notes, and "something" about the slap play style doesn't sound right to me. It seems to have only one velocity. Since I'm looking primarily for fingered and especially slap bass, which my Rickenbacker library doesn't have at all, Ilya Efimov's sampled basses seem to be closer to what I'm looking for. However, there are no demos, so it's difficult to justify a purchase after having listened to a few demos alone.

I'm looking for a library that lets me do realistic slides across fairly long intervals as opposed to a couple semitones. I *think* that Efimov's libraries have this, but I'm not too sure. Realistic vibrato is important.
I've seen a couple of complaints:
stereo width is too large/unnaturally large,
(and from me), is the DI signal clean enough to use with different amps, or is there a lot of compression? I can't easily tell.

Also, supposing that I choose one of the Efimov basses, there are two contenders in my eye: the classic and the modern. The first has a lot of rock-oriented demos, whereas the latter has a lot of disco/funk demos. I am interested in making funk/jazz-fusion style music inspired by groups like Steely Dan, Return to Forever, Stanley Clarke (for the slap bass), etc. Since the demos are a bit narrow, I am not sure whether the modern bass sounds better for disco/funk/jass-fusion because it *is* (has the better tone and slickness) or if it's just that the classic bass (precision fender) doesn't have a lot of comparable demos. It does seem a bit rougher.

In short, I'd like to hear about people's experience with the Efimov libraries--whether they're as flexible as they seem, how good the articulations (especially slides) are, how easy they are to use (are they controlled much like the Scarbee libraries?), and so on.
Also, I'd like to hear more about the different use cases for the classic and modern bass libraries. If I select one of the basses at one point, I'd like to make sure that it's the most versatile for the branches of music I like to make.

Here are a couple of demos I've made:

https://soundcloud.com/synchronizerman/ ... sh_v_2_0_1 for a video-game-ish fast-paced tune with prominent bass.
https://soundcloud.com/synchronizerman/tear-ver-5-6 something mellower

I'm looking forward to discussing! Thanks in advance.

I'm bumping since I made the post right around the server switch.
