Can I have my vocals act as a Sidechain to a synth pad on another track ?

I've got some vocals, and when they come in, I'd like to lower the volume of a synth pad on another track.
I could go in and automate the volume envelope manually of course, but just wondering if I can sidechain to the synth pad track automatically using the vocals as a source, in a similar way to how I would send a kick.

Well, your forum signature says you're using Reaper, so: do you know about parameter modulation? It's like automation, and you can get to it the same way, except instead of animating a parameter using a bunch of points, you can hook the parameter up to an LFO, or another parameter, OR (and not as many people know about this one)........ the audio from another track.
