"A more personal end of year message
I’ve been hesitant to talk about what is going on behind the scene at SampleScience.ca,
but as the year is ending I feel it’s important to give a bit of news, at least for the people who are interested.
SampleScience.ca is run by me, Pierre Parenteau, since mid-2015.
It has become a full-time job right from the beginning.
Most of the work has mostly been done by me, even though I hired freelancers once in a while for very specific tasks.
But most of what you see, the website, the designs, the marketing, the texts, the plugins, etc. have been done by me.
Recently, I hired someone part-time to help with the business,
but my energy levels kept declining.
For the last few months, I’ve felt tired most of the time without knowing why.
Creating a business like SampleScience.ca is a lot of work, more than it might look from the outside.
Even if it’s possible for one person to work at its maximum for a certain period of time,
the truth is at some point things will fall apart.
After doing extensive online research, I discovered that I have all the symptoms of a workaholic.
I’m not looking for sympathy, but for those who are waiting for a specific plugin or a specific update,
it will come later because I really need to take a break.
I’ve reached a point where I can feel dizzy out of the blue when sitting in front of the computer.
I have a lot of digestive problems and I'm totally drained out.
Projects like the SampleScience Player took a lot more work than what people think.
It took a lot more work than I expected myself!
There’s a reason why I’ve been the only one doing it and giving it for free (for almost a year).
It’s the same situation with other projects which might look simple on the surface
but requires a lot of thought process than it looks.
For this reason, I decided to take a month off to re-organize the company and my role in it.
I’ll be back in 2019 with, hopefully, updates, new plugins, and more positive news.
In the meantime, I have to rest in order to be able to give my best to the world in 2019.
Sincerely,
- Pierre Parenteau"
