Well, not *exactly* the same thing but Propellerheads just announced a new Player device that can generate up to 4 streams of musical ideas within given key/scale with controllable tonal, rhythmic and expressive complexity and it responds to MIDI input, so you can actually "play" the sequences. Hook it up to other Players - eg. Scales & Chords or Dual Arpeggio - and then to the instruments and you have a complex, evolving BUT coherent musical structure that follows your input!

I honestly don´t like Reason, but the stuff they come up with wipes again and again the floor with the whole VST world...
Their devices are easy to use, very intuitive and very musical... again and like always there is nothing in VST world with it´s thousands of developers to compete with... sad but true...
To all you developers out there: This is how plugins should be... no need for millions of options and having the need to study rocket science before able to use it

Thank you very much for the kind words, it's great to hear that! Europa, at least, is available in VST/AU format. Partially a result of people saying stuff like you just did.Trancit wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 11:33 am I honestly don´t like Reason, but the stuff they come up with wipes again and again the floor with the whole VST world...

Sadly Europa is not so interesting for me as VST world is quite crowded in terms of instruments... no lack of something for me though...
You should really do Midi VST version of your players... they are all great and don´t have any similar competitors in VST land...
There are of course midi vst´s doing the same thing (more or less) but either there are stand alone programms or that complicated to use (because of being crowded with gazillions of features only people need, who don´t really need such a plugin... if this is understandable...
Nevertheless you guys deserve a very big compliment...
You are not doing much (no offense), but when you come up with something, it´s simply great, innovative and creative, well designed and works like it should be for having muscians as a target and not the most nerdy nerds...
I am really jealous and everytime again, when you come up with something like this I immediately want to force myself to work with Reason again as my main DAW!!! Good job...

This looks nice, especially those "HD graphics". I hope Reason 11 is looking sharp as that, with GPU graphics. All the analyzer etc are like 10fps in Reason 10 currently. Slow and laggy.. But even this is nice, all your stuff is so expensive! 69€ for a freaking randomizer. 99€ for Umpfh or whatever it is called, 99€ for another Umpfh, just different samples. I have Reason 10 full version, but still, everything is freaking expensive on your store.

I'm new(-ish) to Reason, using v10 only since mid '17, but I'm hearing that since Matthias became the product manager it started developing much faster and - more importantly - listening to what the users are requesting (VSTs, workflow stuff in 10.2).Trancit wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:07 pmYou are not doing much (no offense), but when you come up with something...
I'm a harsh critic of Reason and of some of the Propellerheads' decisions and Matthias knows it pretty well, but I also created this topic on ReasonTalk which describes my feelings towards this DAW - when it comes to sparking and capturing that initial idea it's simply second to none! So I'm hoping future versions will focus on making the life easier managing bigger, more complex projects (high-res GUI, more flexible arrangement of workspace, track folder, track freezing)

Love Reason, I learned production on it many years ago and now I bought version 10, super happy with it.
But people, seriously, you need a damn piece of code to tell you which melodies to write? Use your damn imagination (if you have one) and come up with your own music! Learn piano!

This is my problem with Reason too...antic604 wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 12:31 pm ...when it comes to sparking and capturing that initial idea it's simply second to none! I like very very much their ideas, many of their devices and I don´t have even big problems with the GUI... but everythingelse is simply too complicated done for me and for using Reason as the main DAW...
It starts to get confusing easily, too little customization and organization possibilties and simple tasks like throwing an EQ in the rack at the right place can be already a challenge... too much back and forth between the different views... navigation and editing in the sequencer is - harmless said - not very comfortable ...
But their devices, especially the players are exactly how I want them to be... versatile but not complicated and they get the exactly done without any hassle...
Why cannot any of the clever developers wake finally up and recognize that such plugins in VST world should be made for muscians, who are not the most experts of scales and chords and stop making the final - super duper - mega - I got all the chords and scales of the universe - all in one - see yourself how you can manage it - worse academic GUI ever - anyway I hide everything in super large dropdown menus - you need 4 hands to play me like scaler - open chords?...what´s that - plugin...
The only ones I would consider are Captain plugins, but they are not able to port the melody plugin to windows since ages...
Seems nobody wants my money...

I also bought Reason 10 upgrade during Black Friday sales (From v5->10) and I can see lots of goodies in 10. Point is is there any agreement between RE developers and P-head that they cannot release a VST version ?

Nope, there's no such agreement. You'll find a few REs that have a VST counterpart. Many types of devices work a bit better in RE format though, especially those with CV or similar.cowby wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:45 pm I also bought Reason 10 upgrade during Black Friday sales (From v5->10) and I can see lots of goodies in 10. More often than not RE developers are individual persons who code REs as a hobby or a side-job. Developing RE takes less time, because you get the SDK with lots of stuff pre-made, full documentation, dev. forum; Props take care of distribution, hosting the files and part of the marketing, seasonal sales, etc. With VST development you're basically on your own, so it requires more time and money AND in the end is more risky, due to much higher competition.cowby wrote: Tue Dec 04, 2018 2:45 pm I also bought Reason 10 upgrade during Black Friday sales (From v5->10) and I can see lots of goodies in 10. Having said that, I think Props by now have - or are very close to having - a technology to (easily) "convert" REs into VSTs and WebApps and hopefully the other way around too, which was proven with Europa. I think their plan is to leverage the RE store to also sell (more) VSTs, because if I was a small VST developer I'd gladly join a platform with single login that gives me access to all my plugins, one-click easy authorisation & updates, piracy protection, subscription and rent-to-own sales model. If they could convert RE->VST then this would bring new life to the RE format + lots of new clients who are not necessarily interested in Reason, but would gladly use the REs in VST format. If they could convert VST->RE this would bring new developers to the platform as well, because REs allow for things you can't do with VSTs.
I'd like to be right about this and if I am, I hope they can pull it off
