Any Logic users

Here is my problem. I have logic 5.5 and i bought a 2 channel soundcard (m audio) my question is how do I record into logic with more than just input one and two. Everytime I got to input 3 it arms input 1. I know it has to be a way to record with more than just 2 tracks. Cna anyone help me on this maybe I am not setting my environments up right. I have been researching this for month please help!!!!!!!!!

First; Welcome to KVR.
Second; You said it yourself - you have a soundcard with two channels. Therefore, input 3 doesn't exist. That's okay though, in the Logic Audio environment just set tracks 1 and 2 to the soundcard's 1 and 2 inputs. Then set tracks 3 and 4 to inputs 1 and 2 also. The same with tracks 5 and 6. Keep going like this.
When you want to record something just arm that track and plug your mic or guitar into the relevant input on your soundcard.
You don't need to have 24 inputs on your soundcard to record 24 tracks - unless you want to record 24 tracks all at the same time. The audio signal can be routed from either of the 2 inputs to any track in Logic. (This is for mono tracks, if you switch a Locic track to stereo it will use both inputs, 1 = Left, 2 = Right).
In other words, you can record as many tracks as you like with just one input if you want.
I hope I've explained this okay.

Thanks so much you explained it like a pro. I asked around on this and even the dumb guitar center guy said no. But most of the time they know nothing and arent even musicians!!!! no offense if you work there only if you work there and give out wrong info..... Thanks again

BTW, you should check out the Yahoo Logic Users Group....

It has more than 14,000 members, most of whom are pros and they're very helpfull. They don't worry about stuff like what platform you're on, or which version of Logic you're using. And they don't mind questions from new users either - all very civilised. Also there's a really good FAQ document you can download from their files section (or a link to it).
