I've been using EastWest CC for about a year and it works great, but doesn't include all the mic positions and instead of buying platinum, I think I'd prefer spending a similar amount of money to purchase a more limited, but better sounding all-in-one solution from another sample company. I make music with quiet and loud parts, I prefer orchestrating individual instruments, but understand I'll have to sacrifice that freedom when using a "complete orchestra" library. The EW libraries I use are strings, brass, winds, perc, choir, piano.

I've looked at cinesamples lite, the orchestra and metropolis ark 1, but my top choices are Albion 1 or Berlin Inspire 1 (or even 2 because of the vocals). I'm leaning towards Berlin Inspire because it includes a piano, possibly some vocals and seems to have all the instruments, even some solo ones and could be more dynamic than Albion (?), but its advertised as a sketching library, and it doesn't have many articulations, which honestly isn't a big deal, i usually only use shorts, longs and marcatos anyways. Plus it has limited mic positions, but they sound better than EW's. Ark 1 sounds best, but no flutes or clarinets... there is an awesome choir though.

VSL special addition was another option I looked at.

So you see I'll be making alot of sacrifices for quality over quantity and since I'll already be losing something (instruments, articulations and individual orchestration) I want to make sure to make the best sample quality choice and was wondering whether anyone had suggestions on what library to purchase when my CC contract ends. Thanks a bunch.

I'd also consider the "get good strings and piano, cobble everything else together from free stuff and maybe something like Indiginus Amadeus" option.

Yea maybe, EW CC has all the instruments though and they aren't bad quality, I'm just looking for something with better sounding samples and maybe a more modern workflow, like Spitfire or OT. Speaking of free instruments though, LABS is what peaked my Spitfire interest because the sample quality is actually (imo) better than paid EW (gold).

Audio Imperia Jaeger, as CC user that's the first big orchestral lib I'm going to buy

Is pretty good for comparing the violin sounds, it's this that pushed me towards Jaeger as I think the violins sound the best, the vox that comes with the lib are simply amazing too (although you can get this separately)

Full overview, it's long but worth a watch

Oh yea, that's another cool one. i think there aren't any winds though? Great for epic, similar to Ark 1 (no high winds, awesome choir).

There are so many Orchestra libraries - so it's very
hard to decide. It depends on your ressource:

If you have time for testing and experiencing,
then explore the realm of free libraries, for instance:

If you don't have time, but wanna invest money,
then go for VSL - you mentioned them already:

free mp3s + info: andy-enroe.de songs + weird stuff: enroe.de

Yep that is true no woods, I forgot about that, but all packs will have negative & positive you just have to decide which is best for you and which one you like the sound of the most.

I guess you didn't manage to pick up the free woods from Sonokinetic (They also have some other nice libs) over christmas ?

Cool cool, I used free instruments for decades before investing in EW CC for the last year. Thanks for suggesting VSL, it's a top choice because it's dry, dynamic and has individual instrument sections. I'm kinda wary about the RR of the special edition and saving my license on a dongle. Not excluding it though, definitely a top choice. Thanks a bunch.

Aaaaah no! are you serious? i thought they weren't gonna give away any more free libraries. Dang it. I was checking their site every day until I stopped and yep...

You're right about every library having drawbacks. And since CC has basically everything, any higher quality orchestral library is probably gonna lack something. I guess it's quality over quantity. I'd go Jaeger or Ark for epic definitely, however I really like contrasting super loud and super quiet sections so I'm leaning towards Albion or Berlin Inspire, since they seem to do both powerfully epic and delicately emotional.

[edit] i actually have some individual orchestral instruments too however they don't affect my decision much - NI session strings (not bad actually) soundiron hyperion strings (no comment) cinesamples 12 horns (awesome). The only instrument I'd consider using with an orchestra is the 12 horns, which are awesome, +1 cinesamples.
