Is there much overlap in content between Sonic Station and Sonic Synth/the eRoms?

I like the idea of not being tied to a specific sampler, but if most of the content is already in Sonic Synth I'd probably be better off spending my money on the 'all the eRoms' deal instead.

thanks.

I think there's significant overlap (30%? 50%? I can't remember). Also, both Sonic Station and Sonic Synth cover the same types of sounds. If you've already got Sonic Synth, then getting Sonic Station will give you pretty much more of the same - but with the ability to use it in any soft sampler.

It really depends on what you want. If you've already got SampleTank and you want more sounds, then go for the eRoms (If you've got any non-FREE version of SampleTank2, then there will be a lot of new presets available for the eRoms when then new series comes out soon).

If you've already got a softsampler such as Kontakt or Halion, and you're really into programming your own instruments from the raw waves, then Sonic Station (and the Capsule series) is probably more appropriate for you.

Kim.

There is a lot of crossover between Sonic Synth and Sonic Station mainly because it was born as a "universal" solution for those that wanted something "like" Sonic Synth but in other formats such as Kontakt, EXS, HALion etc. But, then as we weren't able to make the same exact type of sounds we did in Sonic Synth because ST is very different from most samplers we went in a more "raw workstation rom set" kind of direction. So, at least 1/3-1/2 of the material is different than Sonic Synth and can be combined in different ways to actually be useful for making more patches. In fact, even the basic patches it has out-number Sonic Synth's by over 2 to 1.

Having said that, the sounds in it are dry and are meant for YOU to do your own procesing. We've started to work on a "wet" version for the samplers that at least have some fx. But this is just some reverb for convenience. That is nothing that anyone can't do in two seconds themselves. Then, half the fun of own Sonic Station is shaping the sample content, mixing waves together, running samples through effects yourself. It's maybe a bit more advanced that Sonic Synth 1 in that way, even though it is still full of presets for the "player".

Because there is cross-over material though there is a cross-grade discount. Instead of $249. like normal Sonic Synth 1 users can now get Sonic Station for a limted time at $99. That will just be until August 15 and then the cross-grade will go back to $149 (which is still good!).

The eROMS, however, are different than both of these. By the way, the eROMS are ALSO different than the Sonik Capsules which contain new material.

Thanks, guys. That made things a lot clearer.
