I'm in need of world instruments soundfonts to be use for some serious experimental kind of music (read: exotic, new age, hip-hop vs. trip-hop crap  ).

Any suggestions are very welcome. :)

I have the EMU soundfonts that are from the original Proteus series sound module. I think you can get them from creative.com or soundblaster.com.
If every KVR member wrote one review a year we'd have 1340 reviews each day!

My favorite exotic soundfonts are from here: www.sonicimplants.com

Hewitt:

Got a link at creative.com? I can't find anything about soundfonts there.

This should get you started: http://www.soundfont.com/shopsounds.html

I also use these soundfonts to some success.

Good luck.

Hewitt Huntwork's site for ya is here: http://www.soundfont.com/world.html

Not a bad price, and they are Emu, but I've never heard of them. What exactly are you looking for? There are some free from the majors such as pinkullo's, sanza's, afro-percussion, etc... (those that I found in my files from that (name eludes me...) Hammer.. place (damn't its on the tip of my tounge). Any way check the free first then go buy Cameleon5000 and mention my name.....wait, better yet tell'em sickle666 sent ya.

To add on what I said in the beginning of this thread, I'm in the mood to make some thinking man's hip-hop (new ages instruments vs. hip-hop beats vs. trip-hop lazy vibe). 8)

And buying dirt cheap too. :D

HammerSound.com is the site I was thinking of  .

Now, if your courageous, there was a Russian fellow who posted his site a while back who had, literally, a scrolling library of soundfonts that down loaded at 0.0002 kb/sec (most russian sites do  ). Anyway, I got some pretty bizzar sfonts there, if I remember. You might want to try searching through Dr Tivok's site as well, do a search.

[edit] For the love of God, get Flashget before you attempt the above :-o

I agree with AD80. SonicImplants are the best soundfonts you can get, but they're not free.

I just brought Proetus 2 & 3 over at soundfont.com moments ago. :)

Play the banks through fruity soundfont player (via FL Studio). Some of the sounds are good & some not so good. :?

But after some tweaking & effect adding, I dig these sounds so much better. :)

Thank you all for your suggestions. I'll be checking out sonic implants after I pay my rent next week. :D

I've got all the Proteus disks too, Tony, and I couldn't agree more. Some are very nice, some are okay, but they all have their uses.

Don't forget the VSTi Crystal comes with 3 soundfonts banks - one of which is ethnic/world instruments.
