There's also been a couple of one-day freebies, Ostinato Strings and Ostinato Brass, but after that day they've been $99. And I think one more shaker library?

That's true, recently they made them 'Powered by Kontakt' with the .nicnt.

As a consequence of that you have fixed Host Automation (in order to work properly w. NKS).

Those will only work for 15 minutes in Player. For Kontakt full they are free.

OP is looking for Kontakt Player freebies.

They're rare because NI charges a licensing fee for compatibility with Kontakt Player.
