Hi. It's been a little quiet around here because Squids has been swimming around on the variety of other cool themed forums here on KVR. There's a cool thread going on for fun in the hardware forum about the Continuum Fingerboard. Then there is the monster group buy thread (5 more days left to buy Sonic Synth before it's all gone btw) with 73+ pages if you dare... but our company forum is still the place to be for SR related talk.

So, as a treat to anyone who is interested, I decided to occassionally put up some quick and dirty video clips of me or the SR guys at work. The audio is just from a little camera the size of a credit card (I am a gadget freak, sorry) and all of the video clips are exactly 30 seconds (that's what it does) but I figured it would be the fastest way to just do it for fun and add a little dimension to the forum.

What I have in these clips is the new extended I-Map drums in action. This containst the regular I-Map within it but adds more keys for additional expressions such as an extra set of toms (for up to 6 tom racks) a hat foot release, cymbal choke, crashing ride, some more cymbals like splashes, two stick hits on center snare, edge snare, edge ride, bell ride... of course, each kit is now a couple hundred megs! The extended I-Map kits are going to be on a few new libraries coming out. One is the previously announced "I-Drums" (new name when released because of good old Art and his IDrum  even though we announced ours before but that's ok... I'll just have to shift a few bits around that's all ;) ) another is STUDIOPHONIK , a studio instrument workstation based on the SampleTank 2 engine and the other is the Premium Drum Kit refill for Reason. Of course, regular I-Map kits are incredibly expressive too. This is just the next step of where it is going if you are interested. I'll get into more detail about both the I-Map and extended I-Map very soon.

i think these video clips are a great idea, (a flying visit round your offices would be nice too, looks like you have a very swish place to work in - eg lights and artwork). Anyway, I think the videos show your performance showcasing skills more than the drums itself, but it was still fun to watch. How about upping the quality and then maybe using divx or bink to save on filesize, then you can show us the extended highlights of your skills, not to mention Sonic Synth 2 (what stage is at the mo) and Studiophonik (how about a few cover versions as an a/b comparison to show the true potential?)

Anyway, good work!

Yeah, I have to do some new video demos soon so I will just have a camera set up with decent audio and run little updates on what's going on around here. This was just quick and dirty for the heck of it. By the way, Pricer, there is a thread that has your name all over it in the hardware forum. It's about the Continuum and Kyma etc. Go check it out. Some more crappy quality vids there too. ;)

As for the artwork and the lights... I like a good artistic inspiring vibe to work in. One of the artists, Rafal Olbinski, we've used for SR album covers like Vintage Timetraveler, Modern Songwriter and World Traveler. The others are French painters who are in museums around the world like Max Papart or Theo Tobaisse. I was lucky to meet a lot of these artists, some of which are no longer alive now.

congrats on the Continuum, it's a marvel of technology for sure. While Kyma is sure out of my price range, I do get doe-eyed when I see Max/MSP, the recent Autechre albums are a great advert for it, not to mention the great Peff who puts up a lot of his creations up as rex loops and/or NNXT on his site - btw, are you considering doing anything either commercially or as a freebie (say a few rex loops) with the continuum? Though Max/MSP is a few purchases down the line, and I can create enough glitches to keep me happy in Reason for quite some time. Just out of interest what is drumming like on the Continuum, it'll be funny for some vids of that too.
