i dont normally get excited over drum machines (leploop being about the only one), but i really like somas take on things...and this is no exception.

this looks very inspiring and creative to me.....a bit too rich for my blood though unfortunately.

Shame I can't afford it and it's too big for me to easily fit into my home studio

Seeing posts like this makes me a little embarrassed to admit that I have a Lyra-8, Pulsar-23, Pipe, and they’re making me a Dvina as we speak. Yes, I’ve turned into a bit of a Soma fanboy. Either that or it’s just my obsessive compulsive Pokémon syndrome.

I'm not into "hard core electronica" or whatever it would be called but really like the sounds that box makes. Old analog drumboxes generally leave me cold but this is in a different league than 808 or whatever.

I mean, won't be buying one but maybe would be ideal drums to accompany some dude seriously abusing a Polivoks. :) I do like some electronica. Ferinstance Kraftwerk is more addictive than Big Mac burgers. That thar soma pulsar-2 drums would work great in Kraftwerk schtick.

Seems a reaal nice box.

I can only agree: the Pulsar 23 is close to perfection.

I'm not against a drum machine having no sequencer, but can't really work out what this is aiming to be.

It's so open in its sounds design that a lot of soundsbit makes are not really drum sounds at all, but weird glitchy bleeps.

Seems it has some decent drum sounds in it but seems a bit too open for what I'd want in a drum machine. It's almost more a weird synth for bleepy hits...

It does sound nice, but, for me, too complex for a drum box. I used to have a vermona DRM, which I regret parting with, that was a simpler similar thing.

I guess the problem with the Pulsar 23 is that it defies any definition. It can be 100% drum machine, but it can be also 100% “a soundtrack in a box”.

if you want a standard drum machine, or a standard anything, do not look at soma.
i say that, as someone who loves their work, but it's not the normal shit!
they make beautiful tools/toys but they are more for the experimental folk 8)

It’s hard to describe the Pulsar with few words…
