I'm guessing not many know about this but if you do you get to hear about it again... 8) if you don't here's the deal...

Final mix is now bundled with Tracktion 1.6 and is free for existing users.

I think it's an amazing giveaway with about 50+ very useful presets, a 3 band compressor and two separate 6 band parametric Eq's (pre and post).

1. If you have Tracktion its free.

2. If you are in the market for a sequencer then you will get the plug and Tracktion for $80

3. If you just want the plug...then $399 dollars will get you what you want.

a.Have any of you used Final mix before?

b.Great deal or could do better?

Seems to me you need a Mackie D8B first:

"Acuma Labs’ Final Mix enables you to master your sessions within the D8B, printing directly to hard disk or DAT without having to rely on expensive mastering houses or outboard gear. Specifically designed for use with the Mackie Universal Effects (UFX) card"

Post

How do I get this, being that I am a licensed Tracktioneer? Can't seem to find it om Mackie's site or using the provided link.

no, you don't need any hardware.. was just playing with it in Tracktion.

Don't you feel awkward about your promoting an R-rated movie with lots of "graphic violence"?

Just one question - I bought Traction on Saturday and it was version 1.5.1.16 - has 1.6 been released and if has shouldn't all existing owners be notified?

No...you just need to download the latest version of Tracktion 1.6 and get the Tracktion with examples version as it is included in that file.

Mackie need to update that page and make people aware that the plug also comes with Tracktion for $0.

I am using Final mix and I can assure you I do not have a D8B.

Log in as per usual and down load the full install not the minimal one final mix is in the Tracktion with examples file.

This is most interesting. I bought traction second-hand ages ago, never really tried it much, then sold it again.

I am now in the market for a host to do audio sequencing, given that i want to generate parts other hosts(nameley: renoise/energyXT) then cut/splice/FX in the audio sequencer.

If tracktion is decent at loop/sample manipulation, and it has rocking mastering thing free, then perhaps i should buy it again.

Can it do good audio sequencing people?

Audio is great but timestretching not good.
Every day takes figuring out all over again how to f#ckin’ live.

Hey thanks a lot.

I'm not too bothered about time-strecthing, its more if its easy to chop up my loops, parts etc and drag bits between different tracks, fade in/out, automation of FX etc.

Any comment in those areas?

I love it for all that. You can non-destructively put FX on audio clips.

Really? Shit thats good for such a cheap host. And can it do automation curves, send busses etc? And what about chopping of audio samples. On the beat, freehand etc, easy re-arrangement?

You're being very helpful, i appreciate it.

Yup.

Yup.

Great if you want non-destructive, a few clips more than a wave editor if you want destructive.

No snap to zero, but everything else just kind of works 'in-place'.

That's a subjective thing, but personally I'd say yes.
