I'm listening to the radio piece now... according to the story, the late Tom Dowd is the guy we can thank for modern mic technique... and mixers having faders instead of big clunky knobs. I'd heard of him but never learned so much. It's background I really should have known before!

The reason for the story is that a movie will be coming out, "The Language of Music." I go to about one movie per geological epoch, but just might be tempted into seeing this one.

Quite a giant in his field, but most people have never heard of him, because, well how much credit does the engineer ever get?
I'd like to see the documentary just for that part with him remixing layla
