Is West Las Vegas the area on the other side of I-15 from Downtown? I get why someone made the reference to desert, as I really get that feel from it too, but from my relatively limited knowledge of Vegas I thought West Vegas was one of the areas tourists are told not to go to.

That aside...this is a really cool piece of composing - I love the way it continuously unfolds and tells a story (not sure what the story is, but it really has a sense of narrative to it).

I traveled to Vegas a lot, and my girlfriend lived there for 10+ years. Yes, pretty much anything on the other side of the I-15 is ‘west’, but it’s technically named West Las Vegas, which was/is a neighborhood where a lot of minority entrepreneurs opened casinos when they were segregated from the main strip. Still, I think anything west of the I-15 is West Las Vegas. And I dropped the ‘Las’ from the title because my titles are too damn long.

Was originally going to call it A Broken Pay Phone Outside of Cimarron, but I couldn’t find Cimarron road pics, I found some Vegas road pics west of town, so a new title was born.

Too short! Very well done. As Forgotten said, it creates a real sense of narrative, through changes in texture.
