Hi.
Ive been using BIAS FX Free for a while now. Ive tried out Fortin Nameless and STL Tonality Howard Benson.
Can anyone recommend the best amp sim to buy for metal? I mainly just jam in the house its not for full studio productions. I use a Scarlett 2i2 with Digitech Drop pedal.
Looking to spend around £100.
Thanks

I don't have one that I rely on for everything, but the Mercurial SS-11X is great and pretty cheap.Kuassa make sone good stuff.
The free Lepou amp sims are just as good as many paid ones too.

I like Overloud THU's new amp profiles. The Neural DSPs and Amplitube Mesas are good.

Emissary by Ignite is also free and comes with an IR loader with some impulses. It was custom made for a metal guitarist.

This is the amp sim. that ruins the experience of payware
Bias; for me either elite or nothing, which is very expensive
Mercuriall; My fav. company but it does require more cpu power if you want the full quality
THU; As good as it comes for low cpu usage.

Johnson J-Station's Rectified Sim. I've never found an in the box solution that sounds nearly as good and I've tried just about everything. There's a J-Station on Craigslist here for $45. I'm thinking of picking it up as a backup.

After a lot of amp sims (I have BIAS, TSE X50, most of Kazrog stuff, most of Plugin Alliance, and have tried demos of pretty much everything else available), I have settled down on Mercuriall Reaxis coupled with SinMix IRs. I should say that I am John Petrucci fanboy, so I tend to want to imitate his sound, and (after some tweaking) Reaxis does the job so perfectly that I have stopped being excited about amp sim news anymore, I just don't want or need anything else (even though I check out new plugins every now and then, just in case). It even halted my thoughts about buying an actual hardware Mesa.
Also I should note, that cabinet models/IRs are just as important as amp simp itself. I don't think I would be so satisfied with Reaxis if I hadn't found nicely matching IRs for it. It still sounds nice with stock IRs, but not as magical as with the SinMix ones.

Depends what you play as "metal" is a very broad definition. If you're talking about high gain I would say check out the free Ignite Amps plugins as they're fantastic!

As the reigning KVR 'Most Metel' contest champion
it is only right that one gives a view.
An oldie, free, and strangely oft neglected amplifier simulation. Great for those manly, beefy Tony Iommi stylee sounds. And after all, what could be more metel than Mr Iommi?

Death to false metel.
