Hi,

I've got a laptop which I wish to plug a Midi device into. (The device is a little Eyris controller, which has a normal MIDI out connector). The trouble is, I have an Echo Indigo IO card which doesn't have a midi interface. The additional problem is that I only have one PCMCIA slot, and thats used by the soundcard. What's the cheapest way I can get a midi signal into the laptop? Some kind of USB midi device?

I would be very grateful for any recommendations.

i ended up with the midiman uno and decided my laptop's audio was decent enuff to pass on the indigo i was planning to get.. knowing my shopping habits i probably found ~ a dozen mentions of the two working well together; at the very least, the uno isn't problematic.

well.. apart from needing the installer v. on the net instead of the one that came on the disk. haven't taken it out live or run over it with anything, but so far it's all solid.

now can i have a free copy of cameleon?

Not sure if this exists, and if would work. But how about USB to JOYSTICK and you just buy those 10U$ JOY to MIDI converters? (from the old SB16 days)

Im pretty sure that the usb joystick adaptor is missing the correct pin connections...

Get any cheap USB MIDI interface (M-Audio have some 1x1 model) or be consequent and get some integrated USB audio/MIDI solution for anything laptop related. The Edirols are a nice choice then (tested and approved).
