Hey Tracktion is having a 50% off site-wide sale. I was eyeing Waveform for a while and now I was thinking of picking up the Extreme Pack for $300. I haven't seen a ton of reviews online of either Waveform or the included synths. I am currently light on good instrument VST's but I do have a bunch of Melda effects.
I'm looking for a happy middle ground between traditional DAW and creative pattern-based workflow as well.
Anyone using it and would you recommend it?
I know there's a Tracktion sub-forum but I want unbiased opinions so I'm posting here.

Just bought the basic last sale. I just haven’t been able to get into it, but having just rediscovered Live, that’s not necessarily Waveform. I do quite like Collective and use it quite a bit. The Windows version is quite stable, the macOS version less so. I can’t speak to the other standalone instruments. I do wish the drum sampler/sampler were a VST as it’s very nice and simple.

Here's a very thorough review of 9 and 10, well worth the read. I really like it. It's simple enough to use easily and deep enough to allow me to do most everything I want. It is a zag when everyone else zigs kind of DAW.

Disclaimer: I own Waveform 8, not the latest v10 (which does have some awesome composition features!)
I found Tracktion to be a sort of wannabe Bitwig. It's okay for the price, but I found it clunky to work in. Getting grid snapping to work can be a pain at times and having to constantly switch MIDI input is mildly irritating to me. On the other hand, it is a modular DAW with some (admittedly basic) APDC that allows for some powerful mixing options. Considering you have Melda plugins, I think you'd enjoy a modular chain (mix of parallel and series, however you like) of instruments and effects. Mulab spoiled me there.
As far as instruments go, they're okay for their price. Nothing earth shattering, and frankly some of the voice limitations on them feel a bit dated. However, sound designer should still be able to be creative with it, especially if you get your hands on collective. Collective can be thought of like a light-weight Falcon, without the fancy effects.
It's good for it's low price, making it a great value. However, in my opinion, it's always felt like/been a toy in my box rather than a tool. However, there are other out there who swear by it, and they can turn out impressive results with this software. My primary DAW of seven years was Mulab, and now recently I've moved to Bitwig for APDC and incredible plugin support. My workflow is very modular, and Waveform is great at that! Just not as great as other software, for my workflow.
I think you'd best ask those who use Waveform as a primary DAW what their workflows are and how they accomplish their tasks. It doesn't jive with me, but it does with others, and they're not to be discounted. Some smart people out there using Tracktion/Waveform!
EDIT: I forgot that I made a video featuring Waveform 8 not too long ago.
Nothing spectacular but it shows that one CAN make Waveform be competent. Still not my cup of tea.

Sounds like a big "meh". I tried it for a little bit but I felt like I was using Word Perfect for DOS.
