A good short article of further death indicators to physical sales

Basically, all the fluff and puff a few years ago was just a big smoke screen show by Swift. When it all comes down to money, she caved to get more.

I think the driver is , young consumers live in smaller spaces and don't want to allocate space to collecting CDs and LPs . Also, maybe the new trendiness towards living clutter free. (I should know. Certain people in my household keep throwing out all my shit when I am not looking.. grrrr...! Still super mad about that original Price concert t shirt from 85 they threw out! Grrr!!)

Just my theory anyways.

Meanwhile, I live in a 30-square-meter apartment and have 3 full shelves worth of CDs.

I got rid of all my CD's a couple of months ago. I never listened to them. All digitally. Got them ripped to MP3 anyway

I listen to CDs every day. I don't listen to young people. With age comes wisdom. With youth comes stupidity.

Weird; TFA proposes the opposite; by basically forcing her own terms she got more.

but you can learn something from everyone young and old, why tune out a source of knowledge?

I have a few hundred cds still packed in rubbermade totes, I ripped them all years ago but I'm keeping the cds...I have even more cassettes (many duplicates though)

Sad to say. But I still buy CDs. But I also stream. In cases where it's new artists or lesser known ones, there is just something magical about buying a CD where you feel that maybe you are giving some money to the persons that made the music so they can make more.

In cases where it's a reissue, it's the packaging. I want the little booklets and pictures to look at.

I've always disliked the format because it shrunk album covers down to what it is. Lots of great album artwork is lost on these little disks. Also, don't like plastic jewel cases. I won't ever get rid of my CD collection, even though we need a new stereo, and the only place I listen to music externally is on my computer through my Dynaudios. As soon as we get a new stereo, I'll be listening to the actual CDs again.

I have a fairly large collection of CDs and DVD/LD/VHS movies (several thousand items). I plan to move and it's a pain, but at the same time, I much prefer owning my collection in physical form.

From CD to mp3= downgrade. Just save them as flac files is you don’t have a lot of space. With the price of HDDs i save them as wave files.

I buy CDs from almost every band i see live.
