Accomplish better resolution in the SX ruler?

When I zoom out in the project window the bars in ther ruler in SX 2 becomes more narrow. However, I would like to have some small lines in the ruler showing every single bar, rather than every fourth bar.
Thís was present in Cubase 5, and I don't understand how to accomplish this! I try to look in the manual but I can't find the needed setting.

I don't think it's possible. Here (on Mac OS X) as one zooms out, it goes from showing every bar..with each bar showing subdivisions into beats.. to suddenly showing every 2 bars (without subdivisions), and then to every 4, then 8, then 16 etc.
If you have the track space available, why not create a track (in your default project) containing e.g. a MIDI (or cut-up-into individual-beats audio) click track, comprising of 1-bar parts. If, furthermore, you use the project's split screen function and put this track in the upper section, then you'll always see the 1-bar parts.

I did get a life,once...but it was faulty, so I sent it back.

I must say that this is one thing I really hate about the Cubase GUI. I can't understand why Steinberg has removed this feature.
Another feature that is no more is the "hair cross", i e when you move a box there is a big hair cross moving along with the box, so that you know where you put it. The info box that pops up in SX 2 is just a sad replacement.
The SX 2 GUI is just a big unclear mess. :'(

Yep, I totally agree with you there. I'm just getting to grips with SX2.2 from VST5.1 and there is so much useless bloat in there now. They seem to have have taken out 2 useful features for every one that they added. I'm still trying to find out where I put inserts on the master outs for f***'s sake.
However, I discovered that multi-lane audio clip editing is back in though - thanks for small mercies!
Another one I'm still trying to get my head around is how to truncate audio clips destructively...all I want to do is shorten some IRs that I downloaded, all I need is a simple "export segment" like they used to have - every page of the manual I've read so far tells me how the original clip remains untouched when you insert silence or pick out parts, and I can't find an export segment command yet. I used to be able to use VST5.1 as a basic sample editor...seems like that has gone out with the bathwater too
Still...I opened up Audacity the other day, and that looks to be a very handy app. But you really shouldn't have to use 2 apps instead of being able to do everything in Cubase.
I always used to get excited about new Cubase updates and upgrades - it always used to get better. VST5.1 was immensely useable and could have been made great. SX just seems to get worse, more complicated and less intuitive. I can still use it, but it's doing my swede in.

The 'Bounce Selection' command performs this function, albeit in a 'context-sensitive' manner:kritikon wrote:...Another one I'm still trying to get my head around is how to truncate audio clips destructively...all I want to do is shorten some IRs that I downloaded, all I need is a simple "export segment" like they used to have...
- 1. Open the Pool, and open the chosen sample via double-clicking on the 'wave' icon to the left of the sample name
2. In the resultant 'Sample Editor' window, select the area of the sample that you wish to retain. Right-click within the selection, and select 'Audio -> Bounce Selection'. A new 'Sample Editor' window will open containing only the selected portion of the source sample.
3. Close the 'Sample Editor' windows and return to the Pool. Note that your new sample has been added, and will be the source sample name with a bracketed number appended to the end. This new sample is still 'virtual', however, as it is still referring to the source sample (hence the bracketed number). Select this new sample, then right-click and select 'Audio -> Bounce Selection'. This time, Cubase will ask you for a destination directory, and having done so, will bounce a physical version of this new sample to disk, while still retaining it's reference in the Pool.
