I have an OMF file that a mix client sent me (done in Sonar). Our studio is on Pro Tools 5.3.1 (OS9). I understand that digi has a utility called digitranslator but I can't seem to get it to work, even install on the host.

Are there any utilities out there to convert OMF to wav? We have Ableton Live 4 here as well...will that import (then we could render and move to PT).

Any suggestions welcome, thanks!

I thought that PT could read OMF files?

There's also a program called EDL Convert Pro that should be able to convert an OMF file to PT Session format.

I've never done it, but over at the digi site, I found that supposedly their optional program digitranslator will do it. I'm on 5.3.1 PT, on Mac OS9. I tried to install both the demo's 1.0.1 digitranslator plus the 2.0 dll. Can't get to work. I get an error -39, I'm not sure they are supporting 5.3.1 for this anymore?

Anyway I just need a quick, fast solution. Is EDL convert pro link here on kvr?...going to search now. Thanks for the tip.

Indeed.
Never used PT but opening OMFs in Sonar is incredibly straight-forward. Just open as a project.
I would think it works the same on PT.
An EDL is just a plain-text project file (1), it doesn't contain any audio or video information.

I downloaded Sonar onto my windows machine, loaded up the OMF and light-piped it over to pro tools....done.

Sometimes the old fashion way is easiest :)
