"Piper at the gates of dawn" and "A saucerful of secrets": what do you think of them? Aren't they just great?!

I love Ummagumma and Meddle too. But it's really hard to say about "preference".

From the Syd era my favorite is Atom Heart Mother.

Isn't Syd present only on "Piper..."?

"Piper" is my all time favourite. I love it even more than Beatle's "Sgt Pepper's". IMO "A saucerful of secrets" just can't be compared to it. The band members were just imitating Barrett's creations.justified wrote:"Piper at the gates of dawn" and "A saucerful of secrets": what do you think of them? Aren't they just great?!

Piper is one of my top 5 records ever. I like everything else up to Wish You Were Here but Piper's in a class by itself. Totally brain melting.

Syd played guitars and did some vocals for AHM.

Piper and Meddle for me Both are among my favorites. "Echoes" is amongst my all time favorite songs.
Saucerful does have "Set the controls for the heart of the sun", another favorite of mine

Meddle and also Obscured By Clouds too. Piper and Atom Heart also. But, I still like Dark Side, WYWH, Animals and the Wall.
When I was in London last I took a picture of what I think is the factory in the Animals cover. I'll post the pick so maybe some of you Londoners can verify?
Not to get all into Animals here when you're talking OLD Pink Floyd.
Saw a picture of Syd recently. I forget where. Looks nothing like he did of course.

Am I the only one who thinks Ummagumma is basically self indulgent garbage with only a few highlights to save it from being a complete waste of space (sorry should point out that I quite like the live disc)????
let the flaming begin!!!!!
