I have an ancient one, that was budget class even then 10 years ago: ESI Maya44 USB. I'm not sure if it's good enough for nowadays standards, I'm in the process of making a studio. What are the most important differences between interfaces, is the one I already have good enough? Output should go to ESI nEar08 monitors. I'm in electronic music btw, if that matters at all...

The DACs (A\D converters)vappear to be only 20 bit max which is considered low for professional use. So it depends on what you want to achieve with it and whether the drivers are available for your chosen OS.

I'm mostly inclined to think acoustic treatment of studio is the most important (also applying Sonarworks Reference), then what monitors you pick and then audio interface, so I asked because of that... Say I do a pretty good job with studio and I think I have monitors good enough, is another sound interface needed? Thanks for info, think I will probably consider buying some better one.

It really depends what you're doing. If you're just making electronic music entirely in the box without needing to record audio in, I see no reason why it wouldn't do the job in 2019.

You're absolutely right that room treatment and monitors are more important. You could get a more modern audio interface which may potentially have a better DAC, but there's not much point if your room and monitors don't allow you to hear the difference.
