I watched this a couple years ago, it was pretty good. Kinda drags in some places if you're not too into this kinda music/tech but I gobbled it up. There is one section obviously shoehorned in at the 11th hour about Charanjit Singh, but that's because the rest of the doc narratively flows so well. Best parts for me involve Ikutaro Kakehashi explaining the technical and business details. Glad they were able to record him, he passed away in 2017.
Got me thinking about other instruments repurposed to that degree from the design goals and marketing. Theremin kinda got stuck doing spooky things in film but it and its style has been making some appearances in pop/rock, and in contemporary classical. A lot harder to play than an 808 though!
