Getting one soon. Does anyone know of a resource for templates for the SL MK3? In particular synth VSTs. I would really like one for the Arturia Analog Lab. How difficult would it be to create one?

It is supposed to be really difficult because of the components software you have to enter midi stuff I'm new to this .

I think you can use the midi learn function in Analog Lab to assign controllers to knobs and sliders on the SL MK3 but I don't think these can be saved to a hardware template on the SL. Think you would need a list of default cc assignments for Analog lab to set up in the Novation Components software which could then be saved to a template. Not sure if this list exists.

In ableton load a vst then press the configure button in the bottom left of the screen then press any knob on your software it is automatically added to the controller and when you are done right click then it is automatically saved forever. I tried my best to explain as the video is 30min on YouTube
Hope this helps

I’m trying to have the computer out of the space when I’m performing, can I have the name of the clips in the display during session view ? That will be an amazing addon

Yes, if you want to customize a specific setup/template. That said, you can find a lot of premade templates out there. There is a Facebook group -> https://www.facebook.com/groups/novationslmk3/ But not everyone uses FB. There is a site, where a guy pulled the shared templates off of the FB group (including the ones I had shared), on to. (this is ok by everyone who shared, since he is actually doing a service, as not everyone uses FB). Anyway - he hosts them here-> http://piedpipers.club/sl/templates/ Again - these are also on the FB page, which may have a few more than these.Influx808 wrote: Thu Dec 09, 2021 9:54 pm Just got the novation slmkiii today I'm still trying to learn how to use ableton and mapping my software synths do I need components to do this ?

I'm wanting to use my software synths .
U-he , avenger, sylent etc. I'm using ableton 11 configure setting to make custom midi templates but it only lets me create 1 bank of 8 different parameters when It should be a lot more.

For past few months, i’ve been leaning in to integrate soft synths into my SL MKIII. I’ve integrated a handful of hardware synths and effects but wanted to add soft synths. Initially, i was using the standalone versions of various plug-ins, but quickly shifted back to using MainStage for these. I don’t use the SL MK3 to program sounds, only to host patches and templates I can use live. Maybe that is not how everyone uses it - but it works for me. So for my SL MK3.. I have this common controls setup, as i use them during play (not programming)..
I use a couple of different templates. Hardware synths, Software synths, and effects. By creating Maintstage “Patches” and standard MIDI channels.. I can put together 8 part sessions (songs, the way I am using the SL) in a couple of minutes. There is way too much to cover in a quick post, and some day I will document / video the setup.. but… If you have a Mac, and use MainStage… this is a way of integrating soft synths into a SL MK3 in a pretty well organized way. My primary soft synths are the Korg Collection + Wavestate, Modwave, Opsix, and the Arturia V Collection. These all lend themselves to a few live controls.
This pic shows the mainstage portion of a Session. It uses channels 1, 5, 6, 7. Channels 2,3,4,8 are used by hardware synths / effects.
