Hi folks!
I want to record some acoustic songs with my band, preferably up to at least six tracks at one time. My DAW however is built for recording only two tracks (c.q. 1 stereo track) at a time.
It has:
* an RME Digi 96/8 pad soundcard, with one stereo analog input, or a digital (optical) input with up to 8 (ADAT) channels
* One Focusrite Platinum Trackmaster pre-amp
* One Fostex DMT-8vl Harddisk-recorder, which I use as a mixing console.
What should I borrow or buy to make the multiple-track-recordings possible?
My guess is that an 8 channel mixing console with built in high quality pre-amps and digital ADAT out would be the best solution in this case, but I haven't found anything like it.
Eight non-digital outputs would be good too, because I could get an expansion board for the soundcard with extra outputs.
Any suggestions?

I saw the RME Fireface, that might do what I need. But it is a bit more than I was aiming for. Not only in pricing, but it would also rahter replace my soundcard than add to it.

Friend of mine (Amersfoort) has a mixer for sale with analog inputs & ADAT output, maybe thats what you are looking for?
Dunno details about the brand/type or price yet...

behringer ada8000... I can recommend it being pretty decent...
Whatever you do, dont even look twice at a digimax, sound terrible imo. 4x as much as the behringer and not even close to sounding decent.
What's the budget? Perhaps it would be better to go with something like one of the RME interfaces or mytek? (im in love with mytek lately)

The Behringer ada8000 fits the budget the most, and does the trick in the specs I asked (apart from the mic pre) I guess. But I'm a bit hesitant to choose Behringer, as its reputation (as it goes for my my expieriences too) is not as 'pro' as - for instance - my RME soundcard...
A mixer with adat out would be good too.
I had a look at websites of the Yamaha 01x today. That one sounds verrry interesting; it will solve my problem and would also open up a lot of other possibilities I was aiming for in a later stage as well. But that later stage will still be later, for budget reasons...
But before I start saving money... Any experiences with that machine?
