As they are a similar beast, is there a program that will convert the slice data present in the Acid file to a Rex file for Dr. Rex to read (i.e Batch convert Acidized Wavs to Rexs). I've looked but can't find :(. It seems logical to me but I'm no coder so I don't know. Any ideas?

I'm not sure if there exists any application that write REX file format except ReCycle.

CDXtract can read but not write...

im sure beat creator can.

only rex1 .
maybe

I think the only application that can write REX2 format is Recycle. Its a very clever move by the Props. Allowing developers to have REX2 import but not export. A few can export o Rex1 but Reason 2.5 isnt compatible with Rex1.

Its like having summer music festival wher entry is free but leaving has a fee.

You have 2 options:

1) Buy Recycle and spend less time doing engineering. You'll have to spend a quiet Sunday converting all your loops but it will be worth it if you only use Dr Rex.

2) Find an audio editor that exports midi groves with chopped wavs. There are alot that can batch file this. One of Reasons XT samplers best tricks is importing and mapping wavs. Personally I think this option is better because the XT has more paramiters and outputs than the Dr.Rex. If automation is important to you the other option is to load each wav into an NN19 then adjust the key range to the midi grove. If you want drum loop madness this is the way to go but it does involve alot of setting up.

Really? I'm damn sure I've been using rex (1) files with 2.5, as some of my work from v1 runs fine. IIRC it wasn't until v2 that it accepted rex2 files.

If I am right, what programs output to rex1, besides recycle 2, without the manual load/edit/save lark you describe in point 1?

In that case check out this...

http://www.beatcreator.com/English/frames.html

It has alot more tools than Recycle and is half the price :)

I'm not even sure this is worth restating, but... I think recycle is the only program that can create rx2 files.

Also, I'm pretty sure reason 2.5's Dr. Rex can play rex files.

It is the only program that can save to REX2 format.

Well BeatCreator looks like what I need (albeit with only REX1 support, but hey, it's better than nothing), so I'll have to try it somehow - As the demo is save disabled I assume I won't be able to see how the results turn out. Oh well, maybe £ for Xmas!

Thanks All!
