I would like to have a single album next year where I put everything I release. If someone buys the album they get whatever is there at the time plus everything else that gets added for the rest of the year as it gets added - maybe an alert email tells them a new track has been added

I dont want to do a subscription because I might have a couple of albums to cater for my very different styles - in which case I would have say two albums "style A 2020" and "style B 2020"and a person could buy one or the other or both and get everything I release that year in whatever style album they bought, even if they bought it on Jan1

Bandcamp have a prerelease system but that seems to only have two dates - when you start the prerelease people get what is there, and then they get the rest when you do a proper release. But I want a continuous version - I add a track, buyers get an email so they can download it, I release another, they get another, someone buys the album, they get what is there already plus any new tracks as they arrive.

Possible?

I've had one artist change the tracks on an album I owned - can't remember the details now. They sent an email to day "download it again for free!" - but I guess they'd have struggled to charge

. I've no idea from the artist perspective what's involved, though.

thnks - there is no issue with paying - ideally people pay once and keep getting tracks as I add them - do you know if the email you got was automatically generated or did the artist have to do that individually. not that it really matters I guess, given I have so few sales anyway

I was checking out an artist yesterday who had something like 75 individual singles posted as "albums." They were $1 each, but she had set up a 90% discount for buying all of it in one go. I don't think that includes future additions though.

To my understanding, you can add additional tracks to an album even after releasing it - only past customers would have to re-download the album to get the new tracks. Not entirely sure about it, though.

Well, it had a custom message on from the artist, not some pro-forma message from Bandcamp themselves.

Bulk discounts are common but it's nice to see something like this (although I'm the kind of mug who happily buys each one as it comes out

). The "and all future" would have to be done through subscription, from what I've seen. (And "all future" is allowed to specify exclusions and "entire discography" is allowed to specify exclusions - all quite flexible, from seeing what artists I buy from have done.)

Ooh, I didn't try to download the extra tracks only - there was new artwork for the album, too, if I remember correctly, and that was only in the main ZIP.

Thanks for all the replies - looks ike it is possible with one minor quibble - I will have to do an email out each time I add a track. Here is the message I got from Bandcamp Support. So I will be trying this for next year

To clarify, there's no way to trigger a notification when you add new tracks to an existing album. You can, however, use your mailing list to contact fans. You can find your Mailing List on your Tools page, which you can use with a third-party mailing service like MailChimp.
