For those who think that DAW is left out.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

Agreed. Cakewalk stopped supporting and upgrading P5 long before Cakewalk completely went under. I'm surprised ABSOLUTELY NO ONE took over the code.

They integrated some of its features into later sonar versions (??) and repackaged the plugins as “new features” for Sonar upgrades.
I think everything from Project 5 put into Sonar eventually was abandoned as 32-bit code they didn’t bother rewriting as 64-bit. Annoying, and shows just how insincere their bundling was; it was all to sell upgrades, not make Sonar better. This is one reason I stopped buying Cakewalk products (yes, I own Project 5; both versions).

Does anyone know the company Cakewalk partnered with for the Spectral Transformer plugin? Is it still available in a modern VST64 form?

It's a good question and it sent me through some very interesting work. I am speculating, but I think the path leads through http://www.composersdesktop.com/Steve Bolivar wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 12:27 pm Does anyone know the company Cakewalk partnered with for the Spectral Transformer plugin? There are links from there to software projects there that could be of interest. Their programming lead has a personal and project site, too, with performance examples.

All versions of Sonar had automation.Igro wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 4:26 pm It didn't have automation. Just like those older versions of Sonar.
An idiot on Set Theory:

Right. I think i confused it with the version that was before the Sonar. I still got a minty and nicely smelling original disk version on my shelf.whyterabbyt wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 5:01 pmAll versions of Sonar had automation.Igro wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 4:26 pm It didn't have automation. Yes, that would explain the "CDP" logo on the plugin.veryfft wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2020 4:06 pmIt's a good question and it sent me through some very interesting work. i was a big user of P5 in the mid oughties, but then it got discontinued... it would've been nice if Cakewalk would've made it 64 bit & multi-core aware before dropping it, but such is life.

Yes, I only left it a couple of years ago when I got tired of the memory limitations and when companies started to phase out 32 bit versions.
I always wondered if Nick Haddad or Jesse Jost ever had left copies of the code on their personal machines and had ever tried to recompile for 64 bit.
