Hey,

Your light-weight piano AU plugin for Logic Pro X?

Post

I used stock ones in Logic, other than that, personally find Nexus factory ones spot on for my needs, if you want some recommendations of other 3rd party stuff that aren't Kontakt, TruePianos are quite cool.

Logic's stock pianos. Also, there are some pianos from the free pianobook project that work in the EXS sampler :tu:

Indeed, for "light-weight" just use the Logic stock pianos. They are as good as others and there is a good amount of choice as well.

Pianoteq, hands down. Warmer, more 'real' than the Logic stock pianos, and not expensive (and a tiny footprint).

Stock is good enough.

Pianoteq Stage still cost more than half of Logic and is of course limited to certain parameters.
Sure it is a light weight since it do not use samples but price wise not sure.
Maybe the OP defines what light weight means here, RAM, GB, Price, CPU usage?

Also worth checking the channel strip presets that are based on the pianos :tu:

$149 US is certainly competitive with most synth plugins, and cheap for a piano :D

the OP asked for lightweight, and nothing's lighter; it's 44.1mb (the AU)... or the equivalent of one sampled note in a sample-piano set. and it sounds great, is highly playable.

Nowadays lightweight is more related to CPU than RAM... In this regard any sampler is lighter than a physical model...
Quality wise I would agree, but it seems out of the thread title the op was more interested in quick, dirty and cheap but reasonable... Along these lines the stock instruments of the most complete DAW are fine for almost anything...

I started with Pianoteq Stage, which I bought for $99. I think it appears on sale from time to time at that price. It is limited to just a few parameters, but still is way more versatile than anything you get sampled (and even more if we are talking of Logic stock pianos).

good point... in which case, pianoteq remains a 'lightweight' champ... the quality the OP asked for.
