Hi,
Trying to find a way to convert a VSTi midi clip with automation to a audio clip slot in session view? Can I do it on the fly while song is playing?

Also curious if I record into the arrangement view can I take my best loop and move it over to an audio session slot?

Thought I read that this was possible in another post.

Being new to Live I am playing around with different work flow options, and would like to hear what other people are doing? I am having trouble with building a song after I have recorded my first attempt in session because the arrangement plays back even if I just want to try some stuff out in session veiw.

Thanks

You can route the midi track to an audio track and record your synth. Live's track routing is very flexible. Click on the 'Audio From' in an audio track and assign the midi track your synth is on (3-MIDI for example) then record into the audio track. Hope that makes sense.

You can switch the arrangement on/off by clicking 'Back To Arrangement'.

I'm not sure how to convert audio/midi recorded in arrangement view into clips but I'm sure the manual/help file has the answer.

You can drag anything from the Arrangement view to the Session view, and also from the Session view to the Arrangement view.

For example, if you have recorded something in the Arrangement view and want to convert it into a clip in the session view then...drag the clip from the track in the Arrangement view over to the top right corner of the Live window (over the toggle for the session view selector). This will "auto-switch" to the Session view, and then you can drop the clip onto a clip slot.

I actually love this feature... As long as no clip from the same track is playing in the session view, and the "Back to Arrangment" button on the transport bar is pressed before you hit play, the clips from the arrangment view will play. You can use this to your advantage in the sesnse that you can have "backing" tracks playing while your performing one of the other tracks live :)

It's quite amazing!
