Heavyocity Flash Sales

It looks like Heavyocity are having a series of products on sale for one day. The first one is the full version of NOVO Strings, which I'd love to get but even at half price it's a lot of money. If you're interested, here's the link - https://heavyocity.com/product-category/sale-novo/
The email I got intimates that there are four other products that will be on sale in coming days - four boxes with a question mark in them - so check that link daily to see what comes up next.

I really hope one is either of the vocalise libraries if not both. Forzo and vento look really cool but even half price on those is steep.

So the second sale item is Intimate Textures and they've just posted the third, which is Rhythmic Textures. They are both cut from the full NOVO package so it seems likely the other sale items will be Synthetic Strings and NOVO Essentials, which are the other two packs related to NOVO Strings. I've got my fingers crossed for Synthetic Strings, that's something I'd definitely pick up at half price (and it's all I can afford this month).

By "cut", do you mean that they are only going to be focussing this sale on items from the NOVO group of products?BONES wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 8:41 am So the second sale item is Intimate Textures and they've just posted the third, which is Rhythmic Textures. I think it's important to clarify, otherwise some might think that you are suggesting that 'Intimate' and 'Rhythmic' are 'Lite' versions, cut from the main instrument, which at least in the case of 'Intimate Textures' is not the case.

Are you sure? Because it's called "NOVO Pack 1" and the others are numbered sequentially after that?
I also just noticed that the web pages are in a folder called "NOVO Flash Sale" so it looks like the other two products will be strings as well.

I don't know about the rest of the packages, as the rhythmic stuff is not my current focus. However, the Intimate Textures package is based off of completely new recordings, and is useable completely independently of ownership of the 'flagship' instrument. It's obviously based on the same engine, but IT's focus is on a very small chamber section of players, whereas NOVA (Main) is sampled from a larger orchestra. Two completely different sounds.BONES wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 11:12 am Are you sure? Because it's called "NOVO Pack 1" and the others are numbered sequentially after that?

Heavyocity clearly should have been much clearer in their delineation and marketing of this product, as it appears there's always confusion surrounding them on various forums, and under various demo videos.

All NOVO packs are individual libraries and do not share content and you also of course do not need the main NOVO to run them. I have them all (beside Synthetic Strings since i do not like it, need it).
I like the Rhythmic Textures the most, followed by Intimate Textures. I use them more as the main NOVO engine. I find Rhythmic Textures after some tweaking even more "intimate" as Intimate Textures and so it is also my favorite from all the NOVO stuff.
The same indeed about the other engines and packs.
Vocalise packs are also some of my all time favorite sample libraries.
Then there is Forzo which i own too and i expect more packs there too (but not sure if i would buy more here). Did pass on Vento because i have just too much of this stuff now.
I also can just recommend to check their free sample packs out to have a glimpse at how it can sounds.
In general Heavyocity belong to my favorite developers for sample libraries. They are on the more expensive side but also you always get things for 50% off not too long after release anyway. They have often sales.

Interesting perspective. For me, from the demos, it seems that the rhythmic element is too baked-in, which i'd imagine would be hard to keep from forcing it's own sonic/rhythmic signature onto a track. Perhaps I'm missing somethingCinebient wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 3:04 pmI like the Rhythmic Textures the most, followed by Intimate Textures. I use them more as the main NOVO engine. Seems like a missed opportunity to allow the rhythmic performances to be cross-faded with the normal swells and arcs of the first library.

Some can be very subtle and they also sync to your DAW tempo (there are also some non-synced available on top). I just like to play a layer of the violins, violas and cellos as one performance. I like to use them with the room (and sometimes bit of close mics on top) and add my own reverb (and spatalization/panning). I seldom use the mix or hall mic.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 3:20 pmInteresting perspective. And layering Rhythmic and Intimate Textures is of course really nice.
I really love them both. But i also really use the main NOVO sounds seldom.
If i would know what i know now i just would bought the NOVO packs 1 and 2.
(Well, and my favorite strings textures from all are in the Solo Cello Emotional Cello, best sustain cellos from all libraries especially).

1) Syncing-to-tempo would be necessary for rhythmic, but perhaps would remove some of that expressiveness, which normally exists before, between and over the bar-lineCinebient wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 4:19 pm1) Some can be very subtle and they also sync to your DAW tempo (there are also some non-synced available on top). 2) I just like to play a layer of the violins, violas and cellos as one performance. 2) But you can do this layering in 'Pack 01' also, via the Texture Designer, right?
I did pay closer attention to the demo after you mentioned it, especially because I'd already seen comments of how much you loved the first pack. It definitely looks interesting, but it feels riskier to me, that I will find too much that is unusable due to a more obvious rhythmic nature. What I'm really after is something to complement Tundra, which does subtle, but based on an overall larger sound. I thought I'T Pack 01' would be a better (and way cheaper) option that Spitfire's OACE. It seems that way from the demo's.
Really wish that more companies would make very-restricted demos, or try-packs like 8dio. Not being able to sell the libraries from many of these developers makes the whole process buying instruments fraught with danger

Well, NOVO Essentials is definitely a subset of the full NOVO samples but I can see that the others are different. It was an assumption on my part that NOVO would have all those things as well. But the website isn't very specific, it leaves you to try and work it out for yourself.
That's the one I really want. I've listened to all those Soundcloud demos half-a-dozen times and I really like what I hear. If I could afford two, I'd get Rhythmic Textures as well, although NOVO Essentials covers similar territory, albeit with a full String Section.Cinebient wrote: Thu Mar 05, 2020 3:04 pmI have them all (beside Synthetic Strings since i do not like it, need it).

Yay! Synthetic Strings is today's deal. My internet is really slow this morning, though, and it is taking forever to download. It's 12GB and it's less than half-way through in an hour.

I'm a Heavyocity junkie. I just picked up Synthetic Strings. Wonder what tomorrows pack will be as I'm missing the 2nd vocalize, scoring bass and the mosaics releases. I think the bass is the one I want out of those.
To make it easier on folks to figure out the products ... Heavyocity tend to create large release "Engines" like Gravity, NOVO, Forzo, Vento etc..
Then they release smaller expansions that use one of those main engines, but are stand alone releases with all new content. Gravity has the most stand alone content releases.
NOVO essentials is kind of a one off that confuses things. It's a stripped down version of the main NOVO release.
