Mysterious Sample Names

I've been going through the SampleTank XL and SS1 and library samples, marvelling again at the extent... this time from up close.
Names. Some are puzzles. Lots of hints and such... a few interesting exotic names.
Anyone got a favorite?
Here's one I liked (it's from the XL set, under STInstruments\Ethnic): Scaccia pensieri.
It's what I've always called a jaw harp, a twangy thing that uses the mouth as a resonator. Unless it uses your tooth as- *CLIK-bzzzzzzzz* OWTCH! (Ah, the advantages of a virtual jaw harp against the real thing.)
Why the name scaccia pensieri? Near as I can make out, it's Italian for a "chaser-out of solemn thoughts." A merry-maker. A lighten-up. I like.

ST2 has some interesting Italian names with IK being in Italy.
Sonic Synth, and particularly the bonus disc, have some interesting names too. You might even find some KVR nicks in the names too.
Who can find the most KVR nick names in Sonic Synth 1 and the eROMS?
Contest!

Found these folks mentioned in SS1:Squids wrote:Who can find the most KVR nick names in Sonic Synth 1 and the eROMS?
Liqih
Moritz
Tugger
Putte
... and darn if I don't think there was a Squids in there once or ten times, too. Surely I'm missing a lot of names that would be familiar to old-time KvR users.
It's fun finding bits from songs I like.
"Wot Bells" -- I could tell before opening this what song it was from, and had a good idea what the sound would be. Was right too.
"Sonic Reality Robot" -- This will be the basis of every composition I make from now on, except those built upon "Oh Baby."
Seem to be a few Genesis and Pink Floyd refs here and there. :-) You'll never lose me with Genesis and Pink Floyd sounds. (Unless maybe it's "Squids' Deluxe 'The Grand Vizier's Garden Party' 4-CD Sample Set"... that one I might have to pass on.)
[edit] I've been trying to place "11th Duke" from memory. Eleventh Earl of Mar? Or Duke? Will I have to listen to both while messing with that preset to tell? :-D

Those kind of patches are roughly like the songs but usually just Genesis-like and get a title that is a hybrid such as 11th Duke of Mar.
There is a Bluedad Piano in there. Raven, Har, Mr Tunes and other KVRians are mentioned. Progconfusion is a good one (no offense to Progfusion of course).
I'll make sure there's a Meffy Pad in the new Sonik Synth 2 for ya. A Phz Lead wouldn't be bad. A ManyToneMany tronpad might be good as well. New fresh names for the next installment.
I wonder if you guys knew that I did that. You never know. Stevie Wonder or some other artist you like may just play a patch named after YOU on their next record.

Thanks! It's a great honor but I feel like an impostor... not a real musician, just a hopeful hack who enjoys the company of the truly competent (and doesn't mind the occasional bargain). :-D
Earlier I think I saw a couple of semi-familiar nicks in non-SS1 presets, just haven't gone through them with that in mind. (Since you'd mentioned it, while testing SS1 presets last night I also kept an eye out for names.) Raven, Har, and MrTunes sounded likely, but I don't think I've made their acquaintance yet.
I must've seen Bluedad Piano and forgot already. *blush* Always the important things I lose and worthless trivia I recall!

There's Ben (Ben KvGtr), bluedad (Blue Daddy Grandy), Mighty_Hero (Mighty EP - that is named after Mighty isn't it?), putte (Putte Res Piano), donkey tugger (Wonderful Tugger), Har (Har, strangely enough), Moritz Morpheous (Moritz pad).Squids wrote: ...

Ones I'm not sure about include ET Metallic (maybe Emerald Tablet, maybe not - but I still remember the days he was Poweruser anyway
So, who have I missed?

You got a lot of them. There are sounds after Progfusion and Raven. Emerald Tablet used to be called something else at the time. But, we could do an "Emerald Padlet".smp wrote:There's Ben (Ben KvGtr), bluedad (Blue Daddy Grandy), Mighty_Hero (Mighty EP - that is named after Mighty isn't it?), putte (Putte Res Piano), donkey tugger (Wonderful Tugger), Har (Har, strangely enough), Moritz Morpheous (Moritz pad).Squids wrote: ...

An SMP Bass is not out of the question either.
