Enough f**king about with sinthesisers and sidechain bollocks, time for some proper music. :hihi:

May have disappeared slightly up my own (admittedly very well proportioned...) arse a bit here - seem to have 1 verse, about 5 middle 8s, and a few choruses amongst other bizzle. Ah well... :scared:

http://www.bennyleeds7.myfreeola.uk/don ... ar-day.mp3

As ever, very ruff first mix - no doubt some things to sort out with vocals etc.

I did have the lyric;

"had it up to here with the verbal diarrhoea"

initially, but then realised it was from 'Gob On You' by Not The Nine O'Clock News.

EDIT - ..and I've realised that after the 'loving you..' bits you can carry on singing 'Sweet Caroline' by Neil Diamond and it works... :hihi:

Always great to get new music from Donkey "Townsend" Tugger. Anyway, screw song structure. I think it's overrated. You could sing the dictionary and it would sound good. Love the journey here, never knowing where it's going. Would like the vocals to be a little more up front but as you said, rough mix and a lot to do.

Looking forward to the finished version.

Nicely done! Enjoyed this immensely.

Thanks for posting - good stuff as usual. In case you're interested in some thoughts on the production, here goes:
I actually like the rough mix (I generally do these days), so apart from perhaps EQ or comp/duck trickery to bring the vocals forward a bit here and there, maybe you should consider going light on doubling/delay/reverb tricks in the final mix?
One of the guitar parts (the one that starts when the vocals start) has a honking, middle-heavy sound that I think produces muddiness and doesn't seem to add much. I'd perhaps work a bit on the sound of that particular part, possibly rerecording playing single notes (an octave higher?) instead of chords, but with a different sound that's easier to mix and has more character.

My thoughts exactly! Got away with it here a bit too as there's just the one key change..I think...

Made a few changes now, but I'll expand on them below more. Vocals should be a bit more prominent and hopefully even now..Same link.

Cheers for the detailed pointers, gave me a few ideas. Made a few changes now;

Took the little 'riff' bit out completely at the start. Was attempting (and failing..) to do some Steve Cropper stylee thing. Sounds much less cluttered now. Also removed that guitar track in a few other places to add contrast, and hopefully eq'd it a bit better.

Similarly stripped back the vocal effects a bit so they add more impact when they do come in.

Think it's getting there now....mebbe..

Cheers. It's an unusually chirpy number, by my standards. Not even any Marxist subtext. :scared:

Did a few more minor tweaks - nothing big, just little volume automation changes here and there.

Very engaging DT - plenty of raw energy in there + some great musical moments.

When you remix...don't over do it...keep it raw as it will work for this one, I think!

Aye, good advice sir as always - we can often try and 'correct' perceived flaws and in doing so get rid of what made something work in the first place...sometimes the initial idea is the best!

Reckon I'm about happy with it as it is now -warts and all, a bit of dirt never hurts. :hihi:

Cheers. NI coming in for a bit of stick at the moment, but I'll always cut them a little bit of slack...
