Synthpop/New Wave. I don't know if the MIDI I've made is in the correct key but take for sure the melody is played in the original song by an acoustic guitar (either real or synthesized). There's a similar tune present in Yaz(oo)'s 'Midnight' (at 0:46 and 1:47) but in the song I'm looking for the melody is the hook...

Someone on another forum helped me, it turned out to be Anything Box's 'Carmen' from their album 'Peace' (1990):
