I just release a new 75-pages book about using the Zoom Meeting with DAWs and audio collaboration in general.

It seems that virtually everybody at schools and businesses moved to online meetings using the Zoom application. Although there are a ton of YouTube videos out there, they pretty much all cover only the basics. Not much information about the details, the concepts, and how to use it when you have a Pro Tools Session or a Logic Project and want to collaborate in class or with your music project participants.

I did a lot experiments the last three weeks to figure out how I can use it in my own music production classes at the university to incorporate Pro Tools and Logic with stereo sound, screen sharing, and remote mouse/keyboard controls.

I put all that detailed information together in this new book and made it now available as a free pdf download, my little contribution to the community. With lots of graphics and signal flow diagrams combined with step-by-step instructions, I hope it can help others who rely on Zoom Meetings as the new reality to continue with their work as much as possible

I'm not really interested in using DAW for on-line collaboration or teaching, but I'll read it with great interest just to see what's possible. Thanks a lot!

I don't quite believe in online DAW collaboration, but if you claim it's worth 75-page book, then I'll check this

Thank you very much, I'm just exploring this new scenario lately. Honestly, I found the audio quality of Zoom quite good for voice communication, but not up to what's needed for collaboration or DAW sound sharing (currently using ReaNINJAM for that) but I'll take a look, maybe I'm really missing something.

Check out Jamulus if you need real time and you are close to your collaborators and don't mind lossy compression. Nothing can overcome physics and eliminate network latency, of course, but it can be comfortable for thrashing out ideas. But you need good LAN and WAN connectivity, too, of course.

If all you're interested in is screen-sharing and discussing things, any online collaboration tool will do. Co-authoring together on the same project in a DAW is not new, either. I'm not sure what a book would really deliver...

Thanks, I will do. Even though this eBook really opened some doors about Zoom shound sharing capabilities.
Doing some experimentation

A question ... the book mentions a "Zoom Audio Device" that is installed in Mac systems to allow DAWs and other applications to feed sound to Zoom. Is it the same in Windows?

Don’t use Zoom. It’s a privacy nightmare.
The recent discoveries about Zoom are alarming enough if they weren’t lying about it too.

Nice one! Love it! On Windows you can use the free VoiceMeeter Banana/Potato to mix the audio coming from the DAW with the one coming from the Mic before it goes out to Zoom. That way you keep the DAW interface clean because you don't need to create a Mic Track in the DAW but still have the same level on control.

Personally, I use a Blackmagic ATEM Mini video switcher with a goXLR Mini audio mixer to offload as much processing as possible to external devices. If you have $500 to spare, that is a killer setup at a comparatively very low price point.

Thank you for the warning. You caused me to do some research and I found this recent and seemingly balanced page. I think people can read it and decide for themselves what risks to take.

I'm not sure I will use AudioMovers because it seems I'm fine already with ReaNINJAM for audio sharing, but it could be used by professionals to ensure the transmission of high quality audio while leaving screen sharing, chat and voice to Zoom and other similar apps.

Although the pdf file is free, some customers preferred to buy it as a printed book on Amazon, making it the #1 for new releases in the Digital Audio Production category.

I added two more pages to my Zoom book with additional routing options for Pro Tools and Logic Pro X.
The updated book has a release date in the lower-right corner of the cover. If you downloaded the book previously check if it says 2020-0412. If not, just go to my website and download it again
