some quick iLok questions

some plugins i use switched to iLok, and some i like (softube) also use it, so i'm thinking of caving in.

what i remember from my previous ilok encounters is that demo licenses keep contaminating my making it annoying and hard to manage. If possible, i'd like to keep only actual licenses on my iLok.

so the question is:
- can i create a dummy iLok account for demo licenses?
- if i link my softube account with iLok, can i "relink" another one?

Also i enabled a license (trial) on external disk, booted into another computer... and i can't remove it anymore.

in any-case, it's making my OCD all wrinkly and tingled - i hate it. So i'd really like to separate actual licenses from demo licenses. My current iLok acc has only ProTools registered, so i can start anew.

Whenever available, I activate demo lic's to my computer and retain the physical ilok for full lic's.
I suppose you could make another account, so long as you can provide a separate email. I doubt
they go farther than that to distinguish customers who aren't paying for zero downtime or anything.
In the end it hardly matters, I don't think demos actually count towards lic capacity of the dongle,
certainly they don't after the demo expires anyway.

Yeah but the account is a mess already :/ It really annoys me that you can't manage licenses better.
and i'd much prefer computer activations than actual iLok activations, since i used them on my laptop and on my studio computer only.

Not arguing with you there, I just hide them. That's about all you can do, beyond another account I guess.

I would think another account would require a separate computer as well as a hardware specific ID is utilized.

I have a separate "dump" macOS on an external SSD, and as far as i can tell it registers as separate hardware. I might buy the new iLok 3 and use this one (iLok 2) for ProTools which i rarely use + demo licenses. I'll try it :) thanks

That's what I do with my trial licences. No bloat that way

What others said : Just hide your demo licenses. They didn't put that function in there for nothing :)
