Hi All!
Something I wanted to do just, in Reaper.
I've called it Equalize Note Length (but that's something I came up with lol!). What I want to do is, I want to make all the notes in a clip the same length, but only each column of notes the same length by analysing that particular column but do the whole clip at once. Hope that makes sense.
I found an action in the actions list called Quantize note position and end to grid but it didn't do what I wanted.
I know you can do this in Reason by highlighting each column (so by a column by column basis) and it will display the longest note length in the notes you've highlighted and you just hit equals (which is next to the note length number at the top) and it makes all notes selected the same length.
Can you do this in Reaper?
EDIT - I've found a way to do it manually on a column by column basis kind of like you do in Reason using the Event Properties and typing it in manually. I right clicked the longest note in a column, selected Event Properties, memorised the note length then highlighted the whole column of notes (chord) and set the length the same as the longest note length and clicked apply. Voila!
It would be great though if you could do it for the whole clip. How I envisage my idea is, set the grid to a short duration, say 1/32 and then ctrl A to select all midi notes in the clip. Then use a keyboard shortcut to Equalize Note Lengths but on a column by column basis. What about Ctrl back arrow E shortens the note lengths (based on the shortest note in the column) to the nearest 32ndth grid division (base on where the note ends) and then equalises the lengths of all the notes in that column? Ctrl forward arrow E Equalises the note lengths in each column but going by the longest note? I've got a feeling Logic can do this.
This is close in Logic -
What about throwing alt into the mix makes it set all notes selected to the same length and not by a column by column basis. So ctrl alt back arrow E will make all notes selected (not just the column) the same length as the shortest note out of the note range selected? lol!
Thanks!
