I new to recording vocals and was wondering if this is normal for an audio interface , I have a clarret 2 pre usb audio interface 48v , and i am around -6db from bitwig this is for the loudest parts of my vocal , but to get it to this level I have to set the gain on the audio interface to 3 oclock which is nearly max, is this normal it just seems a lot of gain to use and I don't have a quite vocal.

I have a Rode Nt1

What I read about the Clarett is that the gain poti is controlled analog which is very precise, so it could be normal to set them to 3 o clock and it is not the most powerful preamp on the market.

I have the Røde NT1 as well it is a really good mic with very little hiss.
Do you have any problems with the recording (hiss) or do you just find it weired to set the gain so high?

I don't get hiss and I wasn't expecting to push the gain this high , I have noticed even with the gain set to 3 o clock the sound thought my speaker sounds low , my speak volume is set to 12 o clock , the peak level test on bitwig goes to -6db which is when I am at my loudest , the track volume is set to -6db , my vst instrument I have to push down to round -14 db because they over power the vocal to much,

You could throw money at the problem and hope it goes away (i.e., buy a new interface); or you could accept that this is why gain controls exist, and go make some music. On the bright side, you can choose whichever option makes you happier.
Wait... loot _then_ burn? D'oh!

i don't really see a problem here. If the recording is fine, no need to change anything. If you want it louder Normalise it or use a compressor / limiter . There is nothing wrong with turning down the other tracks either. Clarett is an excellent interface
