I'm thinking of sending some music to a few record labels, but i don't know exactly what to send in. I know that my packadge and CD should look as professional as possible, and to include contact information, and all that, but what else should i include? a note or something?

I've never sent any stuff off, but the thing I keep reading is that they don't really care about the packaging. They might be impressed for a few seconds with a cover design, or professional packaging... but its the music they're interested in at the end of the day.

Just make sure that your contact details are on the package AND THE DISC ITSELF!!!

I'd say the "professional" cover, or atleast personal one, will make your cd better chances that it will be listened at all (or to say, will get priority over the tons of other cds in the pile).

Choose 2-3 best songs, best song first. Write all your contact information on the cd itself too. Small biography won't hurt, if you're been doing gigs, etc.. be sure to mention. Oh.. and be sure to read any instructions of sending stuff to the label if they give some.

Well.. I suppose many of the hints given for writing work applications will do fine here too.
