Wave Arts Power Suite version 6 is out

VST2 dropped, updated for compatibility with latest OSs and SDKs (and modern hosts), VST3, AU and AAX support.

No news in algorithms, no new GUI (other than dark theme), no scalable interface.

Existing users can upgrade with 65% discount on full price.

First impression is: quite underwhelmed.

Very much so, quite underwhelmed. Aww well, guess we'll wait for the next update. Even if they did nothing else but make the GUIs scalable, it would be better than this update imo. Still love my WA pluggies, but damn, so stagnated is seems.

Always loved the channel-strip, but have had to sideline it due to an over-priced, underwhelming update

Not interested. All they have really done is brought the installers up-to-date, to ensure they can keep selling them, while palming the cost of the work off on current customers. For the most part, every other significant feature update they might have imagined (Or even perhaps surveyed) has just been ignored. I have no confidence that this is an ongoing concern for them , past minimum OS-compatibility, so it's time to jump ship

Currently the update is 75% off, Trackplug is 38$... honestly still a bit much for the changes, I'm not saying such an upgrade should be free but featurewise there's really not much apart from technology update and dark skin...

Power Suite 6, v6.10, 4/22/2021
- Apple M1 support: AU and VST3 formats have ARM/x86 universal binaries
- GUI scaling now scales dialog windows too
- AAX format now supports GUI scaling
- Update from Juce 5.4.5 to Juce 6.0.5
- MD6: fix band enable max value (showed duplicate in generic GUIs)
- MD6: thumbwheel controls now respond to fine tune modifiers (SHIFT, Command, or right-click)
- MV6: preference to lock wet/dry and output gain control, so you can set 100% wet on master bus and preset changes don’t reset it.
- All PS6 plug installers set permissions on WA directories to resolve registration issues
- Added thread locks to allow effect recreation while GUI open
- AAX AudioSuite effects now come up un-bypassed
- Add alternate short names for AAX format
- Improved logic when plugs first opened, no longer show “Default*” as first preset
- Storing dSYM files from Mac builds and PDBs from Win builds for crash forensic analysis
- Added LogFlushLevel property for debugging

Apart from the price, another thing that put me off was ...

You'd have to upgrade one at a time, the cart can't handle multiple coupons.

That's the official word I received.

So I've got 10 serials. Half might be v4 to v5 upgrades. I can't remember. I've currently got all v5 plugins apart from Dialog. After I sort everything out, each serial would need to be upgraded on an individual basis. Not gonna happen.

Also the only company who won't react to iLok location change requests - at all.

In the list of the most shitty plugin companies ever they're easily in the top ten...

Yes the new "features" for Windows are manageable (VST3 support + UI scaling)
For Mac there have also been some compatibility updates. General some bugfixes have been added.

I like the plugins, the developer also responds quickly to requests and that you do without iLok I also find symaptic.

Probably all this does not justify the upgrade price, nevertheless, in the current 50% I made the upgrade, since I had bought the V5 second hand for a few dollars it is right for me at least on the whole.

I am curious about further updates, I think the plugins have received with the V6 again a further development after these have received before during 2-3 years hardly updates.
