Hello,

I'm interested in buying Push 2 but I'm scared that Push 3 is on the corner... I had a couple of bad experiences in buying stuff just before new releases in the past... and it's quite frustrating !

What are your though about this ?

Push 2 has been released in 2015 of what I see...

I personally don’t think there will be a push 3. What more can they really add? They could have a bigger screen and do an all in 1 but they want to sell programs as well I’m sure.

If a 3 does come I don’t believe it will be for another 5+ years.

The only reason the 2 came out so quick is because Ableton was not happy with the product that akai created and chose to do their own.

Yeah, I read a lot that Push 2 is pretty much perfect but 5 years is quite a lot in technology and company often work hard to try to bring new stuff to the table to keep selling...

Maschine MK3 added a whole built-in interface, so that's one way to go. Or adding some CV outputs and transforming Push into all-around audio workstation.

Still, it's more of a wishful thinking. I don't think that's likely to happen any time soon.

it is always speculation, but some hardware stuff is sold for 5+ years, yes with revisions. but most of the times they aren't that big, as between push 1 and 2.
but the push 2, what it can do, they didn't do it yet, the full potential of the thing isn't reached yet.
so, developing a new costs money... selling a controller for almost the same price as in the beginning, no develepment costs, etc. the hardware side, the manufacturer, can produce it for less money.
so in a way.
but it is all speculation.

that is always the problem of midi controllers/keyboards. but i have, for instance a maschine mk3 + jam. the jam isn't sold anymore... i have also the push 2...
i also have, second hand, for my secondary (ahum) studio a maschine mk1, and it still works, can't do things the mk3 can of course, but still it works, and how old is that thing?

native instruments has experience with audio interfaces, ableton not. that can change of course.
CV outputs, the novation sl mk3 is out there. that doesn't mean ableton can choose for cv outputs.

I had the same worries, but you can find new Push 2's on eBay for very reasonable prices -- that's how I got mine. If Push 3 does come out sometime soon, I won't feel bad about it since I got a good discount on the Push 2 (and also because Push 2 is fantastic).

I'd buy Push 3 even if it had the same functionality but was the size and weight of Launchpad X. As is its unnecessarily big and heavy.

Having said that, I think they're waiting with 3 until Live itself supports MPE (and/or MIDI 2.0), because it doesn't make sense to reveal one now. It's almost certain that new controller has to support those.

I thought the same thing 5 years ago. 5 years.

If Live supported MPE and then made a controller that was MPE compatible, that would be an amazing all-in-one controller. Think linnstrument style continuous 8x8 grid that works as grid launcher and mpe grid. No gaps between the pads and a surface that's easier to slide over (like the linnstrument) would work great. IF they did that I'd maybe buy one. I'd use it with Bitwig though. ;)

Pretty much why I just bought a launchpad pro Mk3...half the weight and half the cost...ok you loose the screen but I have a computer screen in front of me and the midi hardware sequencer is a nice bonus
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

As music gets more and more processed, are these mpcs, push2 etc any real practical use anymore?
I guess they're good for furnishing your desk so when people walk in your room you look like a pro but beyond that?

But before it's processed it has to get to the DAW somehow, right? And Push etc. are a great way to do it for people clueless about playing 'real' instruments.

I really like Ableton and Push and wish I was in that ecosystem. FWIW.. I watched Madeon on the weekend and he was using 2 novaion launchpad pros or X's -- not sure. I was suprised, i was expecting him to be using a push.
