Hey guys I am looking for vst instruments that may have Pizzicato trance presets which was often used in 1996-1997 in electronic music at least in Europe.

Probably the most famous track that used this sound is
Faithless - Insomnia but also much less well-known trackss used similar, examples here

Sash!- Encore Une Fois (Future Breeze Mix)

Red 5 - Lift Me Up

DJ Quicksilver - Bellisima

Kosmonova - Raumpatrouille

Max Deejay - Rhythm Is A Dancer

Three 'N One Sin City

Cafe Del Mar - Energy 52 (Three 'N One Mix)

ah, good old 90s music.

The original 'Faithless' pizzicato sound comes from the XP50/80 ... you can find many of these sounds in the Roland Cloud.

Here is how it sounds in Tone2 Gladiator : I've simply played the melody, no external effect, no post processing, nothing.

Preset is ST Pizzimix MF.

And with two octaves stacked if you want something closer from the original :

I thought this was a minorly adapted Roland JD990 factory preset (I43 - Pizza Hutt). http://www.synthmania.com/Roland%20JD-9 ... 20Hutt.mp3

But, Roland nonetheless.

Here's another one

Enya - Orinoco Flow

You could try the D-50 VST by Roland, or the Anthology 1993 by the same company or even the M1 Collection or Sound Canvas VA VSTs, as well as Korg’s new Triton VST.
Many paid and free VSTs as well as Kontakt libraries. As well as HW synths/drum machine and acoustic instruments.

Oh, great songs
Ana2 has nice preset called "By the sea" (it's in the "pluck" section). It has 3 x pizz sample a bit of basic saw + some effects. Also, Ana2 is something like 50e at the moment... Not sure if this one sample is enough for you, but I think you could play around with the Ana2's "by the sea" preset and create your own pizz sounds...?

...and naturally Ana2 has more sounds than just the pizz :D

Sounds very good!

I have to say the Ana2's pizz sounds pretty good now when I'm playing it with (I have only the demo version). But the Dj Ermac's sample is still maybe more accurate/close to the original Faithless sound (I think the Ana2's is some how "softer").

It's true that they ALL used Roland samples (I bought a Roland XP80 just to get that pizzicato patch !!), so if you want the raw versions you need the Roland samples, but Tone 2 made a "ready to use" version with Gladiator, already cooked. ;)

So the Roland stuff are only on the cloud/can't just buy a VST plugin?

The Triton looks interesting - any ideas does Korg have discounts on their products (like many other companies tend to have even quite big discounts time to time)?

I have tried Serum demo+ how to get pizz with it: I upload a pizz sample to the Serum's "noise" osc + also to the Osc A + in Osc B I might run simple Saw (and then I resample to Osc B), then I play around and add some effects etc. It gives this "modern" pizz sound (maybe not so authentic 90's pizz, but pretty interesting still).

Maybe someone can give better methods if using Serum for pizz creating?
