Melodyne 5 has been released!
Wow! Check it out:
https://www.celemony.com/en/melodyne/new-in-melodyne-5
I wonder how well Studio One and the other ARA capable DAW’s will handle these new features. I suppose it will be ok.
The fade in/out wish came to be and so did the chord track. I was hoping for a lasso selection tool but can live without it.
Check out the pricing at http://everyplugin.com/celemony.html and other retailers.

No VST2 support, that's a big one. I'm one of those weirdos that use it mainly for things like sound design, not sure if anything new helps me out there. The de essing capabilities are right up my ally, I think a lot of people will like that. At least it's a regular upgrade price for something like this.

I would think that the fade in/out would be good for sound design but then it all depends how you plan to modify the audio. I would like to see how you or others use Melodyne for sound design.

i thought my last purchased upgrade was a few months ago. actually, it was 2018.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Nice enough features but defiantly not enough to shell out 150 notes for a studio upgrade, I will skip this one.
X32 and 24C mixers, S88MK3, Live + PUSH 3, Osmose, RedShift 6, Pro3, S4, Tempera, Syntakt, Digitone, OP1-F, OPXY, TR-1000, Eurorack, TD27 Drums, Guitars, Basses, Amps and of course lots of pedals!

Interesting: "A note doesn’t necessarily sound sharp or flat just because it isn’t “spot on” mathematically. Just particular, often very brief segments of the note annoy us. Sometimes at the beginning, sometimes at the end, sometimes somewhere in between. It is these crucial segments that have to be perfectly in tune; if they are, the note will sound right to us. The presence of any fluctuations before or after to such segments doesn’t trouble us – to the contrary, we feel they add life to the performance and sound natural.
Melodyne now identifies these problem areas precisely, and the offset shown in the Note Inspector is calculated from the pitch of each note at the crucial moment only – not its entire lifetime. As a result, double-clicking (to set a note’s offset to zero) now yields precisely the right musical result. Also the macro profits from this new, even more musical approach: Each individual note is pitched to perfection. Yet everything still sounds natural and alive."
Chord track could be useful too.
Hmm, upgrade from Melodyne Studio 4 costs the same as upgrade from Melodyne Studio 3. But no mention of Melodyne Studio 2 or 1.
Hopefully there will be another BF sale with the price of upgrading from Studio reduced by $100.

Thanks for posting this! I've been considering Melodyne Assistant and this is perfect opportunity -- grabbed an old Version 4 for my current Windows 7 OS with my main DAW and I'll use free Version 5 upgrade (2 activations allowed) on a different WIN10 machine to use new features -- or for whenever I finally give up win 7, haha.
Per Melodyne website: All activations after 3/1/2020 will have free upgrade to version 5.
New v5 features look powerful.

Somewhere along, I'll upgrade, but I'm not recording enough to make it worthwhile, and just spent €1,200 on a stereo.
