Hi. I just started using ST2LE yesterday with Fruity Loops. I see that on the VST, there are many rows of channels, but how can I use more than one instrument at the same time if my sequencer won't let me use more than one SampleTank track?

Is that a limit just with LE? If I need to use more than one instrument, I have to export a loop, close fruity, come back in and make another. That's okay for making chords, but can get tedious. Plus, I won't be able to save patterns in fruity if I want to use more than one pattern. If that is the limit with the free package, then so be it. If I'm doing something wrong, could someone point it out?

What is the purpose of having all those rows of channels on the left in the VST if I can't use them?

Thanks.

Seems no one looks through the posts... Basically, you have to load it in one channel, and then route the other outputs to different midi channels in your host... I know how it works in Logic and Live, but not sure how you would approach that in Fruity? Hmmm... Any Fruity experts out there?

Hi,

I'm certainly no expert, but...

YOu need to insert a Fruity Midi Out (or up to 16 depending on how many instruments you're gonna load in ST2), assign it a port number, then insert a ST2Le and give it the same port number. The port number is located on the upper right corner of the plugin window.

Assign the midi channel to the midi out: this corresponds to the preset number loaded in ST2.
Now you record on the midi out track instead of the ST2 track.

Holy crap. Thanks a lot!

Hey thanks I never do I could do this! :) :-o

Is there any way to use effects on say just two out of 4 midi channels? The problem with a midi channel seems to be that there is no choice for an effects number?

I noticed this has been covered a few threads down, but here it is again.

ST2 lets you have 4 stereo out pairs. The only way to get seperate effects on different channels in ST2 is to assign them to seperate outputs in the ST2 window. All channels default to 1+2, but click and drag up/down to choose a different pair.

Taken from Fruity manual:

"Multiple Outputs Support
FL Studio supports VSTi plugins with multiple outputs. In the plug-in window, click the down-arrow menu (upper left corner under the red plug-in icon). If the plugin supports multiple output, you will see "enable multiple outputs", select it. Now the first output will be set to whatever FX channel is initially assigned to that plug-in, and each successive FX track will contain the additional outs. For example, a plugin with 4 outputs assigned to FX track 10, takes tracks 10, 11, 12 and 13."

This way you can at least have 4 seperate fx busses
