So I have myself a new computer and I'm reinstalling all my old apps. I use Sonar 2 as I didn't really see a need to spend limited resources on Sonar 3. Anyways, I copied the entire Cakewalk directory from my old hard drive, and I planned to reinstall over that to ensure I didn't lose anything.

Well, I popped in the CD and tried to install, but every time it doesn't let me because it says it has to install DirectX 8.1. The thing is, I have DX 9.0c already.

My two options from that point are to exit the installation or attempt to install DX 8.1. It says if I choose to install DX 8.1, it will prompt to restart, which didnd't happen. I tried installing DX 8.1 and then restarting manually and then running the setup program again but I still get "DirectX 8.1 not detected."

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

much obliged. I have the tendency to always try 3rd party for help before 1st party... but maybe the software companies have become more helpful...
