Hey everybody,

I am happy to announce that ChordPotion 2.0 is coming soon :). The beta tests are going fine, so I think we will be ready in the near future.

ChordPotion is a MIDI effect plug-in that can turn your chord progressions into new riffs and melodies instantly. It's pretty simple: You play your chords in your DAW, send them to ChordPotion, and ChordPotion will generate new notes for you that are played on your synth. More info: https://feelyoursound.com/chordpotion/

I just uploaded a sneak peek video for you

New features in ChordPotion 2:
  • Randomize single steps with "step effects". You can randomize step types, note triggers, octave pitches, strum, velocity, note hold.
  • Higher range of octave pitches for single steps: -2, -1, 0, +1, +2.
  • Drag and drop steps in the step sequencer.
  • Visualization of played notes in the MIDI recorder area.
  • Copy and paste buttons for edited patterns.
  • New FX action: Remove step effects.
  • New FX action: Remove velocity changes.
  • New FX action for Chords row: Make it MultiPlay (three different versions).
  • New global FX action: Pick only one melody row.
  • New "Tripletize" algorithm.
  • Additional patterns for the three Melody rows.
  • Click on a label to do a reset of the corresponding value.
  • 21 new factory presets.
  • Wording change: "Melody 1", "Melody 2", "Melody 3" instead of "Top", "Bass", "Extra".
There will be free new extension packages as well :). I teamed up with game composer Denis Comtesse to create three new packs with presets for you. Expect some nice additions like guitar simulations and various keyboard playing styles (Pop, Rock, Reggae, Blues, Jazz, Soul,..). Plus a secret bonus package

ChordPotion 2.0 will be a free update for all customers. You can join the newsletter to get notified when the release is ready: https://feelyoursound.com/news/

Cheers,

I just feel a bit bad because I already own Sundog, MelodicFlow and ChordPotion, so I get to keep taking advantage of your free updates without paying you anything additional for your hard work! :D (Not that I'm suggesting charging for upgrades, but if you ever release a wholly new plugin, I'd likely leap right on it just to support you. :tu: )

Hehe, thanks :D :tu:

I only recently picked up ChordPotion, and I’m happy to see that you’re continuing to update it!

A few years ago I joined the Kickstarter for the Theoryboard MIDI controller. I ended up feeling disappointed with what it could do, and left it in the back of the closet. That all changed when I realized that it paired perfectly with ChordPotion, using it to feed chords to the plugin. I’m pretty sure I’ve been responsible for a few additional sales of ChordPotion to other members of the TheoryBoard Facebook group. ;)

Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know of TheoryBoard yet. Yes, this sounds like a very interesting combination :)! Personally, I mostly use the Chords view of my own software Sundog for toying around with new chord progressions, but I totally see the appeal of the TheoryBoard approach.

hauke,

Is the ChordPotion multi-touch capable?

I have the Xotopad and really like it.
Are there any tips to use the Xotopad and ChordPotion together?

ChordPotion has nothing to do with multi-touch. It's a VST and AU plug-in that needs a DAW to transform incoming chords into new melodies.
But yes, you can use XotoPad and ChordPotion together :). You can use one of the chord pages of XotoPad to send MIDI notes to your DAW, and ChordPotion will react to these chords then :)

TBH I was kinda hoping Chord Potion would have an option to just let me pick the chords within Chord Potion kinda like Sundog Studio does but more streamlined. Either way it's insanely useful as is especially when combined with a chorder like Midiq.

More and more VTS's are now multi-touch capable and often the GUI is made for multi-touch with bigger buttons. Sometimes I like to control several parameters simultaneous. It fun!

So the ChordPotion is single touch capable or works with a mouse. If made with Juce it is automatically multi-touch capable.

ChordPotion 2 looks great and will very likely get it.

Ah OK, I missed your point then. Yes, you are right, multi-touch makes sense for some plug-ins. But for ChordPotion, the classic single touch / mouse paradigm is "enough", I think.
(ChordPotion is made with Juce indeed, by the way )
